Anybody seen this story yet? I'd love to be at the very first show and hear the reaction to him telling her to get outta his VH t-shirt....... Will probably be a tird though. Especially since there's no Drew Barrymore. This is the movie that made me fall in love with her all over again.

The Stage Version of 'The Wedding Singer' Sets Its Date on Broadway on April 27

NEW YORK -- The stage version of "The Wedding Singer" has set the date. It opens April 27 on Broadway.

Before then, the musical, based on the 1998 film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, will have its world premiere at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, Jan. 31-Feb. 19, with an opening set for Feb. 9. Preview performances at New York's Al Hirschfeld Theatre begin March 30.

The show will star Stephen Lynch as Robbie Hart, a young man who sings in a wedding band and has been jilted by his fiancee. Yet he still pines for the perfect girl. Laura Benanti will play the Drew Barrymore part. Also in the cast are Matthew Saldivar, Richard Blake, Rita Gardner, Kevin Cahoon, Felicia Finley and Amy Spanger.

"The Wedding Singer" has music by Matthew Sklar, a book by Tim Herlihy and Chad Beguelin and lyrics by Beguelin. John Rando, who won a Tony for his direction of "Urinetown," directs.
