View Full Version : was ALAE and YFLM too long?

I was just wondering if this slowed down the 2 albums.

I mean I love ALAE but could easily live without Last Call and Dogtown Shuffle, as I feel they add little.

YFLM...I guess I just would love an excuse to wipe cheating heart cafe off the face of this earth.

its just, a streamlined ALAE, shorter, leaner, and with just the killer tracks. Well, then it would have been a true masterpiece.

Dave picked out the wrong single... and a terrible video ... "She's my machine".

I would have went with the first single as "You're Breathin It".

ALAE is a great album and if anything should have been longer, YFLM is give or take really.the quality of songs is too inconsistant.its a good album but maybe could have missed a few of the weaker ones out

Hard to say.

I mean, I can't imagine ALAE and YFLM with any of the tracks on them not there...

...think if anything, far as Roth goes, A Little Ain't Enough!!

Fuck, I used to think that many of the CVH albums were too SHORT!

Amen, to that. I believe that is an oxymoron, like deafening silence or jumbo shrimp, Dave too-long, I can't relate.

ALAE is a great album, and i love dogtown shuffle. if you want a shorter cd, buy the singles.

nah I love the 53 or so mins of ALAE fun!

and I agree, I think CVH albums were a lil on the short side, as was EEAS.

I was merely posing a hypothetical question.

dave said in his book that they had to keep the records that short because they didn't want to lose the low frequencies (???) of the bass lines...don't know if there really is such a technical explanation for that...but that's what's written in CFTH....

yes I read that in dave interview too.

a friend of mine who knows a fair bit about recording techniques/vinyls also backed up this, saying how quality goes down the longer the running time, over a certain point.

ALAE! The title speaks for itself. There can never be too many tunes on a Roth record.

There are ways around this. If anolog you can use multiple 2" tape. But Im sure it was digital and that wouldnt fuck up the quality at all.
