Listening to the narrative behind the Chevy Camaro video at the Road & Track web site ("GM has now taken the wraps off this Camaro concept, shown recently at the Detroit Auto Show"), R&T may have jumped the gun a little on uploading it to their web site, but we'll take it anyway. The video gives a short history of the Camaro name, info on the specs and some design notes probably resulting from an interview with designer Tom Peters. While many say GM is late to the party with this one, we say better late than never.

Don't bother looking for the video or anything else on the site. I'm guessing GM told R&T to pull the article, because the info is GONE.

But maybe the new "Bitchin Camaro" might eventually see the light of day.

(though frankly this almost looks as much like a Barricuda as it does a Camaro....)

I hope it sees "the light of day." Fuck, GM has little to lose at this point, and that car is much cooler than the pathetically ugly Monte Carlo or the underwhelming Pontiac GTO...

Looks pretty good. They could do a better job reanimating the '69 though....looks too much like the 300 retro-rollin'-on-twenty's deal.

GM lost me with the new "GTO" and C6....now this?!?! I was once a big fan of GM but looking at that new "Camaro" proves that GM is CLUELESS.

Oh and what exactly is "retro" about that "Camaro"?

Peep the Mustang and concept Challenger to see how "retro" should be done.

I thought dropping the Camaro & Firebird a few years back was the proof.

Pray to God they don't fuck up any worse, should they bring back the 'Bird...

Hmmmmm..........

Interesting.... but they could've done a better job with it.

Doesn't really look 'retro-ish' in any way.

Can I get an old-fashioned wing window? Do they make those anymore?

aah, the gto.

it is a great car, but definitely not worthy of that legendary title.

it was badged here as 'monaro', another nod to a classic
aussie marque. they sold well.

they (holden) made a few big block street/ race car prototypes
of the 'hrt427'.

they were gonna produce 200, had 50 buyers shell out a deposit,
but they pulled the pin.

i spose it's hard to sell a 200k car with no a/c or a back seat to an accountant! heh
there's a few out there, though.

At least they have the right idea...there are many of us out there who truly dig late 60s-early 70s muscle cars.

This and the Challenger concept car are gonna be hot sellers...IF they put them into production....
