Ramblin' Man..... I like it, but I prefer the Waylon song by the same name (naturally) ;)

I am a massive Skynyrd fan. The current band does good work (really, they do, I think), but it's very hard to beat the Pronounced to Street Survivors lineup. Freakin' awesome band. I think Ed King is such an underrated guitarist, too... and he's a really nice guy!

I think they sold the name and the current line up is void of any originals!

Love Molly Hatchet. "Gator in the Bushes", "Bounty Hunter", "Flirtin With Disaster".

Hank Jr has always sounded like southern rock imo. "A Country Boy Can Survive."Whiskey Bent And Hell Bound", "All My Rowdy Friends", "Family Tradition".

CDB? "Devil Went Down To Georgia" is so widely known and played on the juke box is in the same league as "Crazy", "Old Time Rock-N-Roll", "Freebird", "Stairway". Listen to "Still In Saigon", "Simple Man". My favorite CDB song is "Uneasy Rider 88". Check it out:

me and my buddy got us a wild hair
and figured we wanted to go somewhere
so we loaded up in my ragtop chevrolet
we had a lil' bit of money and a whole lot of show
and with hank jr. blarin on the radio
we had a tank full of gas and we was on our way

we figured we'd go down to new orleans
we were barrelling old 17
when a man with a red blinking light was on our tail
he said you were doing 60 in a 45
but i'm gonna let you go this time
but if i catch u again
i'm gonna slap you up in the county jail
we said thank you sir you sure been nice
and you aint gonna have to tell us twice
and we southbound down with the wind blowin in our faces
we kept on rollin and pretty soon
the radio was cookin' out a haggard tune
and we were pullin into houston
checkin out all them places

i was feelin dry and i said i think
we ought to stop and give ourselves a drink
and o' jim said yeah
cuz we got time to kill
we kept on rollin and i seen this spot
so we pulled into the parking lot
of this place called the cloud nine bar and grill

we walked through the door the place was jammed
the lights were low they had a punk rock band
and some orange-haired fella singin 'bout suicide
i said jim this ain't our kinda place
he said well let's just have one-round any ways
so against my better judgement we walked on inside
went up to the bar and we sat down
this fellar walked up and said i'll buy this round
and he sat down on the barstoll next to jim

he looked like a girl but he talked like a guy
had lipstick on and mascera in his eye
and everybody in that place looked just about like him
i said jim this ain't our kind of bar
let's just go and back in get back in the car
cuz theirs gonna be trouble
aint no since in takin a chance
we was gettin up gettin ready to leave
in somebody grabbed o' jim by the sleeve
and this good lookin girl was askin my buddy to dance

i said jim don't do it theirs somethin missin
theirs fellars dancin and fellars kissin
theris a fellar in high heeled shoes wearin panty hose
he said partner i just cant turn this down
you just go over there and have one more round
and i'll dance with a lady
and we'll get on down the road

so he walked away and left me alone
but this funny lookin fellar kept comin on
and he was makin me mad in said
and then he put his hand on my knee
i said if you dont get your paw off me
i'm gonna locate your nose around
on the side of your head

he said i love it when yout that fire in your eyes
i said well partner try this on for size
and i unloaded on him and he went out like a light
everybody in that place must've been his friend
they all headed for me i said this is the end
but where i come from we don't give up without a fight

they were screaminand yellin and scrathin and clawin
i was punchin and hittin and kickin and pawin
i was holdin my own cuz i've been in a scrap or two
o' jim comin runnin up out of the blue
and that gal he was with comin runnin up 2
and proceeded to beat on me with a high heel shoe

i grabbed her by the hair it come off in my hand
and that girl beautiful girl was just a beautiful man
and o' jim just got sick right there on the floor

he dropped that dude like as hot from a gun
smeared his lipstick made his makeup run
and me and o'l jim started fightin our way to the door

we lit out of there in that chevrolet
put it on the floor and it stayed that way
we were goin down the highwaydoin bout a 110
we were headed for home and we was gettin nearer
then a red light came on the rear view mirror
and that same blame cop pulled us over again

now i'm sittin here in this county jail
had to call my daddy to go our bail
but i learned a lesson i never will forget agaain
i done give up drinkin i give up bars
and runnin around the country in souped up cars
i'm goin back here the women are women
and the men are men

25 YEAR HISTORY OF MOLLY HATCHET

In the early 1970's a new form of music was emerging in the south. A mixture of blues, country, gospel and the English invasion of rock and roll that later was to be coined the phrase "Southern Rock." The music was filled with style and emotion and with bands in the forefront such as the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and a band from Jacksonville, Florida called Molly Hatchet. Named after a famous 17th century axe murderess hatchet molly who would behead her lovers with the hand tool Lizzy Borden made famous.

Their self-titled debut album which included Danny Joe Brown, Dave Hlubeck, Duane Roland, Steve Holland, Banner Thoman and Bruce Crump in the lineup was released on Epic records in 1978 and reached multi-platinum status as the band established their reputation of working hard, playing tough and living fast through intense touring with such bands as Aerosmith, Bob Seger, The Rolling Stones and many more. In 1979, Flirtin With Disaster was released and history was in the making. The band continued touring on the road with an average of 250 live shows per year and like the first album it also achieved multi-platinum status. Lead singer, Danny Joe Brown left the band in 1980 and contacted Bobby Ingram, a well known southern guitarist and friend, who gave brown his first singing gig in 1975 with a Jacksonville based band called Rum Creek. Brown and Ingram then put together with keyboardist John Galvin the Danny Joe Brown Band and continued touring until 1982.

During this time, Beatin The Odds(1980) and Take No Prisoners(1981) was released with singer Jimmy Farrar. Brown returned to record No Guts ... No Glory(1983), The Deed Is Done(1984) and Double Trouble Live(1985). In 1985, Bobby Ingram, with his songwriting and live performance abilities came into the band to replace Dave Hlubek. The band continued to tour over 200 dates a year and in 1989 record Lightning Strikes Twice for capitol records.

In 1990, while Ingram, Galvin and Brown continued the tradition as Molly Hatchet the tough touring schedule lead to the other members departure from the band. The Greatest Hitsalbum was released in 1991 and certified gold. The band from 1990 until 1995 took a break from recording but continued to write new songs and tour in the united states, Canada and Europe. Devil's Canyon, the first studio album in 6 years was then recorded in Hamburg, Germany in 1996 under the care and guidance of Rainer Hansel, CBH Records. With producers Kalle Trapp and Bobby Ingram the album was voted the number one rock record in Europe for 1996. With a history of diabetes, brown was unable to fulfil studio and touring responsibilities and he brought in Phil McCormack to take over the lead vocal position. Long time member Bobby Ingram - lead guitar, Phil McCormack - lead vocals, John Galvin - keyboards, Bryan Bassett - lead guitar, Andy McKinney - bass, Mac Crawford - drums, make up the current lineup.

From the release of Devil's Cannon and the world wide touring coordinated by Steve Green, Artists International Management, the band has continued performing the classic hits such as "Flirtin With Disaster," "Gator Country," "Whiskey Man" and "Dreams I'll Never Dee," as well as, the current hits in the true spirit and southern tradition of Molly Hatchet. The 1998 release of Silent Reign Of Heroes was recorded back in Hamburg, Germany with producer/guitarist Bobby Ingram and is kept in the same spirit and tradition as the past with new hit songs "Mississippi Moon Dog," "Saddle Tramp," "Miss Saturday Night" and the title track "Silent Reign Of Heroes". Included on the album is an acoustic version of the classic hit "Fall Of The Peacemakers". The band is currently on an extensive 18 month world tour in support of the new release "Kingdom of XII" where guest artist Charlie Daniels appeared on 2 tracks the album charted in Europe and had much success.

In 2003 the band is celebrating it's 25th anniversary of the first national or international release with first a double Live album "Locked and Loaded" recorded in Germany as they concider this their home away from home and it is the first time in 7 years that a Live album has made the European Charts and SPV GmbH is still there beloved record company with Rainer Hansel and Manfred Schutz. The band has plans on touring in support of the 25th anniversary and will release a new studio album of all of the classic songs re-recorded in this generation of the band with Artists International Management, Inc. as their agency. And Locked and Loaded a double CD that was recorded in Germany at the International Harley Davidson Festival in front of 80,000 Southern rockers that has now been captured on DVD and being released fall of 2005. After 4.5 years of touring and tracking outside of the studio on their own material it was time to release an album that in the bands tradition go back to the roots of straight forward southern rock and roll that's unequaled of anything the band has recorded before in the 25 year legacy. The album "Warrior of the Rainbow Bridge" recorded in the mountain tops of Bavaria was the perfect setting for such a comprehensive project. As we live day by day no one knew that Bobby Ingram would suffer the lose of his wife during the tracking of the album and had to finish after a delay. "It was the hardest and most emotional recording in my history of music and I still live that everyday. Stephanie was the seventh member of Molly Hatchet and she did so many things behind the scenes that no one ever saw and she was never the person that would ever want anything in return. The Southern Rock and rock and roll community of the world has lost a great person that she gave all and loved Molly Hatchet, the fans and my happiness as playing as a guitar player. I miss and love her always and not to carry on in the spirit, tradition and legacy that she helped build would now be in vain if not completed. We all miss and Love you Stephanie and you will never be forgotten. If that was the first emotional heartbreak, Danny Joe Brown the singer for Molly Hatchet passed away from complications of diabeteshe had suffered with for many years and he gave so much to the rock and roll industry and music around the world all of our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family and children and he also will never be forgotten. With all of the recent tragity that the band has suffered we were able to draw strength from above and Stephanie and Danny telling us to keep it going and never give up and we now draw inspiration from them to continue. "Warrior's of the Rainbow Bridge" is an album dedicated to Stephanie and the title track Rainbow Bridge is raw emotion that has been translated to CD in the best possible way as we as artists know how to do. The album is released now and in stores worldwide and it is assured to be one of the best of the band's career. It is spiritual and emotional with hard driving in your face Southern rock and roll as we have felt that we have pushed the envelope on the album to bring this to you in full force. So as we enter the next 25 years of music, the road and our dear fans that walk beside us no matter what I can garantee the southern rock fans around the world will grow and become stronger than ever before and keep developing the common bond and unity that keeps this style of music alive and well and rest assured Molly Hatchet is a band tha after 27 years is always working hard, playing fast, living tough and still Flirtin' with Disaster!!!

Their album covers made them seem like a New Wave of British Heavy Metal. But they did have some awesome songs
