The official "low" tonight here is supposed to be about 13 degrees. With the wind chill, it already feels like about 5 below out there.

Can my puny little gas furnace handle it?

I have a gaddamn stand-up fan blowing cold air into the computer so it doesn't overheat, because I need a new fan. It's pretty damn cold right now on top of the 30 degree temp. outside.

Yeah, that's how it was here earlier in the week.

Apparently what happenned here is that we kept the high-pressure front off the coast, which keeps the sky clear and blue, but then the cold front comes in from Canada.

It's not all that uncommon, but this is one of the coldest cold fronts that made it through when we didn't have the usual cloud cover.

Considering it rained for almost 2 straight months though, I'll take the sunshine for now, cold or not.

Arizona earlier this week was NICE...85 degrees on average...

Here on Coruscant, though, it's alright, but the wind chill is NASTY AS HELL...I mean, it cuts RIGHT through you like you're nothing...wind chill drops it down to like 10 degrees sometimes, I swear...

funny thing about that groundhog is that whether or not it sees its shadow there are still 6 weeks left until spring.
A coal/wood burning stove is a great investment for those who own smaller 1 story homes. it's 1/3 to 1/2 cheaper than gas and electric heat.

Seriously, I had to de-ice my car with hot water, and a scraper (really good for the paint!:o) and a to drive it out of the iced hole it was stucked in... it took me an hour!

Yeaterday, we had winds that got to 110 Kilometers/hour... in this cold... it is excrutiating!

What am I doing here, in Ice Country

Yes... WE DO, keep our boyfriends warm at night but;

Tonight is supposed to be a record low of ZERO degrees here, and that's the baseline temperature. Good news is that it won't be as windy as last night, so the windchill will probably only take it down to -5 or so. Not that I plan on going out again. Tomorrow's supposed to start warming up, and by Tuesday probably back to the fucking rain again

yesterday evening I went for a nice stroll along the river T.in London I don't think it was the cold it's self that was bad but the combination of grey weather, strong winds and dampness was quite a treat, it felt like minus 5, they say the worst as still to come apparently at the weekend. I am looking forward to go and have a walk in the park at the week end. Still is not has bad as when I was few years ago back in Scotland and I had actually pieces of ice inside the corners of my room, that was quite something cheers me up no end the thought I am not in that room any longer. Anyway the pollution in London always keeps us warm, nothing to worry about.

Seriously,
You could be making money, renting rooms to polar bears like us...

Every winter, Northern people are traveling down south to get a doze of sun and everybody is looking for alternatives to "resorts" and hotel rooms...

All you need is an add in our local papers and you could "BANK" (really)!

J-Man whazzup!?

When i was in grade 7 the celsius and Metric system was given to
us in school Farenheight was a hard tradition to give up.

The celcius -0- is our -32- deg the freezing point

Our board ft construction materials gradeing system is still based on the 12 inches system a 2 by 4 for wall building is actually 3&7/16th by
1&7/16 inches .I think the metric system built on the system of 10
is much better .I have to use both at time and convert met to 12
and back and forth I'm shure you know this.

I don't know if the usa will convert comepletely ..??

Maybe you don't need a radical move as to move to the caribbean (hot summer all year). You could try lets say Atlanta. They only see snow some times and just some years.
It could even be less expensive than moving everything over the sea.........or buy everything with a higher price.

We lived in S-F California for 8 years, but had to come back home for various reasons.

Our goal is to go back there permanantly but it won't be before the next 2 years or so...

Edmonton is a balmy -10 (-16 with windchill). For you 'Muricans, that equates to 14 Farenheit but feels like 3.2 F with wind factored in.

I don't consider it cold until it's at -20 (-4F) or more, and -30 (-22F) is the absolute BEST temperature when a hot flash kicks in.

I LOVE the cold, it's our cold Canuck winters that keep us looking so young! I look about 15 years younger than my actual age, just ask the idiots at DDLR.com, they figure my 2003 picture is from 1989! :D

De acuerdo, amigo. :)

Pero, en Ingles, si tienes que haver una esplicacion esto dia... :D

It's a song by a great singer from Quebec, Robert Charlebois, a true magician, about Jacques Cartier, who discovered what wasn't Quebec yet and founded the first Canadian-French community, back in the 17th century if I remember well.
Charlebois imagines what would his country have looked like, had Cartier "sailed backwards from winter", so that, to sum it up, they would have had a tropical climate and a very different environment...
The music itself sounds a lot like samba IMO.

What I meant is that some languages such as French, Spanish and Italian are easy relate to,
since they all descent from Latin...

Back in my parent's days... learning Latin was mendatory in school and in some professions
(like Medecine and Sciences), it helped people understanding the terminologies...

yes they descent from latin but they are not the same. When I went to Spain they had so many different accents over there that I could not understand a word in some areas of what they said but at the same time I was able to read and understand what Bastardog wrote, maybe my Spanish is improving......

A little poetry about the weather now:

It's very cold today, it's snowing.
I have my mountain boots on, no wind is blowing across the bridge.
The silence across the city is bellowing and when I finally get to work nobody is calling.

I speak Mandarin Chinese and some Cantonese and German. Oh yeah, these are the languages that you can get a woman's pussy wet with! LOL! Yeah, let me whine out some tones and then hack out some German and the women will turn to mush.

Man, in China nobody can understand anyone. It's still lots of hand signals. Some woman in the country asked me what part of China I was from because I looked different and sounded different. LOL! No shit.

777 i'm sure every guy that lives in a part of the country that has a freezy winter has this story
i have since i was very young.... as you drive around all the women all dressed up in winter parkas soft cashmere sweaters the winter
sexy sweater ...etc

But come Spring driving around you notice on a weekly basis
slowly ever so slowly you notice the parka comes off one week
the sweater the next one, then pants give way to skirts then after a month the skirt gives way to shorter skirts then flimsyer tops
then the bra gets less noticeable under the sexier tops then
the Daisy Dukes and crop tops are all over the place finally you see
a gal on a corner or your own gal standing there in not much more than
some incredibly lovely spring dress or lil bit o nothin attire
its like a month and a half strip tease...... YUMMY

It makes me crazy with the fever unh huh!

Don't mind at all!

Men "go crazy" here, at spring time (like animals do) L.O.L.
And... so do we!

Being all wrapped up, looking like a polar bear, hat head, bad static hair, frozen snot hanging off the nose,
lack of sun (looking green), trying to walk straight, falling on the ground etc...
Wow! we really DO feel sexy!!! L.O.L.

When comes decent temperature, we are all eager to wear the pointed stilletos, get a sun tan so we can show "some skin", feel the air under the skirts, paint our toe nails, walk barefeet in the grass and...
wash that car and wax it!!!

I don't know how people that have absolutely NO summer at all (like north of where I live) can survive
Sure, they get government compen$ation$ but NOTHING equals the pleasure of seing women'r real shapes...
I'm sure of that! :D

Then this runs thru my skull non stop

Rolling Stones lyrics
"Rolling Stones Paint It Black lyrics"

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens every day

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you

If I look hard enough into the settin' sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

Hmm, hmm, hmm,...

I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!

Take out the obvious darkness of this song and see it as
you lovely ladies all of you ...
Make us think yummy, but is it ok, to lust, after the -girls go by dressed
in thier summer clothes- i rewrite the darkness of painted black to
are these not just the loveliest lil ladies...And my lust is a normal
apreiciation of what is the desire s of the Flesh
Ok I'm lossin ot How a bout those Royals *i try to think about baseball*

I live in a ski resort town. We have been in severe drought for sevral years and finally got normal snowfall this year. Outside my house a few weeks ago there was about six feet of snow in the high drifts.

I have two snowmobiles in my garage and so I can just jump on a ride real easy and I ride a lot. I will put between 1000-3000 miles on a sled in a season. I've skied since I was four years old. So I know snow pretty good. This is the wierdest snow this year. Deep but no base and the warm tempuratures have it constantly melting. We even had rain in December which is unusual. Anyways there are no cristals in the snow and it's like mashed potatoes and I don't care how much horsepower or what kind of tred you have, you are going to get stuck. It's really shitty snow and the avalanches have been horrible this year.

Some call it global warming but all I know is our winters have been cold to unusually warm and the snow quality sucks because of it.

I traded securities as a career and majored in finance in college. What I learned about the Chinese is they are one sided and hard to negotiate a good deal with. I mean, the Chinese consumer likes to buy Chinese products. If you think Procter and Gamble is going to sell the Chinese good then you are mistaken. If they like it, they will copy it and sell it.

The potential money maker I saw in China was to buy stock in Chinese companies. They are building roads, freeways, and gas stations like crazy. The govt is building huge infastructer for cars. It's a no brainer. You buy stock in Chinese tire companies and the like.

So I start trying to buy into the Chinese stock market. Big problem, you must go through a Chinese broker and they treat non-Chinese with a different set of rules. It was real apparent I really didn't want to trust these people with my money and didn't like their games.

Being able to speak Chinese was good public relations but they still treat you like a round eye. It's easier to do business in Latin America and I don't even speak Spanish or Portugese. Commodities are hot right now and I've been buying them for the last ten years.

My main business now is real estate. I was in securities in the 90's and did pretty good and invested in real estate.

What I found is I could make a lot of money speaking Chinese if I was Chinese. LOL! You need to be in the inner circle in that culture to do anything with them. I know enough about Chinese culture that screwing outsiders is called "being clever".

So learn Spanish kids. There's plenty of business opportinities in that language and it can get you LAID! LOL!

I do agree with the grass is greener on the other side story but I do find meeting people in London hard ( I am country folk), especially in the winter it seems everybody goes into a winter coma over here it must be something to do with the weather it's always crap and grey, people don't talk to each other and especially man don't' come and talk you, I mean when I went to Europe ( Spain, Italy) and the USA it was great people where so friendly. You would think that being a huge city you would meet loads of people, but that's not the case. People over here work such long hours.. There have been pleny to pass through and I've never heard of any horrible damage to come to Disney. Wierd. Fuckin' Mickey Mouse. If the rest of the south was built like Disney, there would be no hurricane destruction.

GOD HATES TRAILER PARKS! this is a funny bit on a new comedy DVD at Blockbuster! Called SOUTHERN GENTS of COMEDY ... it's a spin of Blue Collar! The guy says:

"God hates trailer parks. Ever see a tornado in a city? It's always trailer folks on the news sayin' "I heard a train comin'...."
"A teepee would be safer! never heard an Indian saying "Me hear big thunder come and ground begin to shake!"

Of coarse it's better to hear the comedian tell it! :D

No drizzle over here Jerome just plain cold and grey -2C. I am actually enjoying travelling by underground. It is nice and warm in the underground, even if the pollution it's like fog.
In actual fact it has not rained a lot it is quite weird, they say we are going to have problems with water in the summer.

I is getting warmer here... now 3 degrees celcius but we are drenched in humidity.
It has been raining for days, so the snow will melt slowly...

3°C in Montreal? I would never have believed so.
Here it's been dry for a few days, snow hasn't fallen since last week, and we still have - 15°C at night in some places. It was - 14°C where I work early this morning.
But I won't be amazed if we get about + 15°C during afternoons in a couple of weeks.

I'm only kidding about the weather in London. I actually often stand my pupils corrected on that matter.
There's a cliché here about an imaginary English man going out of his home with a folded umbrella in his hand, who stretches out his other hand to feel the drizzle and goes: "Oh? It's raining."
Just as if it were a very rare phenomenon. :D
I like the sun a lot, but at some point I need my dose of rain. I grew up in the north, where the weather is very similar to the English one.
So, I should quit "teasing" about that.

but is true........at summer, the temp goes up to around 98 F and adding the humid factor you feel like 100 F. It is extremmely hot for like 2 months or a little more.

Yes, when I think of this: I always think of René François-Ghislain Magritte's painting The Sun of Man I don't know why.
