My cousin has/had a hemi cuda...I redlined it out in the middle of the Nevada desert on a 200+ mile straightaway at about 3:00 in the afternoon a few years back...probably did close to the same.

Was driven at 145MPH in a Mustang 5.0 in the late 1980s, for a stretch of about 20 miles down RT 95 from Providence to Warwick.

Fastest I've ever driven, being behind the wheel, is about 100MPH.

I sat in a "Indy" Formula car, got the feel of it but didn't get to drive it...
I can only imagine!

My first car was my Dad's old 1976 Plymouth "Grand Fury"...
I don't quite remember the speed but I drove those 8 cylinders to excess... on our freeways.
I miss that gas gobler!

I drove a 2002 Corvette about 125 on a hwy. The coolest thing about it was the way the Vette is designed, at higher speeds the wind pushes down on the front end in order to keep the front tires pressed to the ground and allow for improved handling. So the faster I was going, I could feel the front end being pushed down. Just an awesome feeling

150 or so (the speedo just marks to 120) in my modified G-body oldsmobile racing with a Susuki Hayabusa.
By the way I beat him in the long range.......he told me we were at more than 150

...and 140 on my Honda Civic Si

I had a Porsche that was rated to 180MPH. 100 MPH no problem on most roads but around 150 MPH you would really feel the ruts in the road. I got it up to 153 MPH on a good streach of road in Nevada before I backed it down. The car felt fine but the road felt unstable if you know what I mean.

Speed is all relative. I inherited my dad's Model A Ford. The car is almost all original and dates to 1930. Anyways, I found an original Zenith Carburator on Ebay and restored it and wanted to find out how the car ran at cruising speed. Redline on an original Model A is 50 MPH and I was running it down a two lane curvy road at 40 MPH. With the loose steering, tall narrow wheels, and suspension it felt like a was going 100 MPH in a modern car or worse. I mean I was white knuckled and concentrating like a motherfucker. In fact, driving that old Ford at 40 what almost as scary as driving a Porsche at 140. No shit!

Thx to non existing speed limits on some german freeways

170 mph in a jaguar 12 cylinder, 5 years ago.

Great car, even at that speed it was a smooth save feeling.

The fuel - clock does a good ventilator job.

Well since I don't have a DVD-ROM, it'll be a little complicated. Here is how I did it:

1. go to this website link: http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php

2. Download the JAVA JRE first.

3. Download the Latest Azureus release.

4. when your finished installing that, then click on the "Download Torrent" icon for the HWY download and then save it.

5. When you open it, there will be 2 screens for Azureus. On the open torrents screen make sure you put where you want you Location of Saved Data to be, then click OK.

6. It should take about 6-8 hours to download, so don't shut off your computer.

I put on it "the legend" a 350 chevy engine (from a '72 pickup) bored to .40 with flat top pistons. ported orig head with triple angled stainless steal 2.02 and 1.60 valves. An Edelbrock Performance RPM Air Gap intake with a 1" spacer. to top it a Race Demon 820 cfm mech. secundaries. Flowtech Afterburner ceramic coated headers. The cam is a CompCams Magnum hidraulic 286 (non-roller) with .486 in/out lift topped with Trickflow 1.6 roller rockets. it has an MSD 6AL ignition box, MSD sparkplug cables and NGK UR4 sparks.
The tranny is a 700r4 rebuilded (last year) with all servos avail and race clutches, 10 vanes pump, etc.
and at the rear is a posi 3.73 gear.
It has AC and runs very well and a rocket when pushed..........but it use a lot of gasoline.....I estimate like 10 miles per gallon

sets see if I can post a photo of it when I get my dig. camera back

The speedo on my bike stops at 135 at about 5:00 o'clock on a clock face and took it about to 6:00 o'clock so id say 150 mph or there abouts.
88 Yamaha 4cyl, 600 street bike no cafe' racer styles, for this kid.

creepy spookie when it starts defying gravity and lifting off the ground
excuse me while i go throw up..

i've probably only been 125 in a car and i wasn't driving.

I had a drunken friend who used to fall asleep(pass out) and floor it.
that's not fun trying to steer a car from the passenger seat
and pull his foot off the accelerator

I still hate that fukker.
I told him next time (years ago) that i'm gonna slam the fukker in park if he does it again.Or I'm driving.
Yep still hate that fukker jaggoff!
So watch out kiddies speed kills.

As a passenger, I went about 120-125. It was in a brand new 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo. Great car. My bro still has it. Only 27K miles on it.

As a driver, about 100-105. That was on a totally open 4 lane highway...just to see what the car could do.

Not really much for excessive speed, in a non-controlled environment. I just don't feel like risking it. The roads are too crowded in Jersey.

yeah, on a bike it would be much, much, much scarier

a guy i worked with once offered to take me out for a spin on his 900cc kawasaki ninja

i sat astride the bike in the car park and he let me rev the engine, when i saw the needle red-line at 14000+ i decided i'd rather give it a miss

Funny story , later that day I was in Gloucester , in a pub with a couple of mates , and me being a piss head I had five pints of Stella , and I live 50 miles away .

I leave el pube and proceeded to thrash t' bike over the brow of a hill near Cheltenham at about 120 mph , guess what sort of a cunt was on the other side ?

He pulled me over and said " how fast were you going over there? , "70 " I said , he said " but it's a 50" I said "I'm not from round here" , he said " okay , be on your way but change your number plate , it's too small "

CUNT .

Heh heh heh! 180Km/H on a fuckin' rental! The Grand Prix GT was
a rocket ship that night! Some chick's hands down my pants working
my stick gear while I tromp on the gas! The one thing that did beat
me in a race was a Honda CBR bike and a Toyota Supra.

Automobile: 130 or so in a 1985 911 Targa....maybe faster, for about 20 miles on I-95 headed for Jaxsonville. Circa 1986.

Motocycle: I quit @ around 170 on an '02 Hayabusa a few years back on the Fourth Of July. No gloves, no leathers', no brain. I respect race bikes..the last one I owned was a '93 GSXR 750. The Hayabusa isn't a race bike, and I lost respect for myself on it!

Motorcycles are an interesting story for me. I once crossed the border
JUST to attend a H-D convention. I saw BMW bikes and some sweetass
asian racebikes. A good friend of mine had a Kawasaki Ninja that was
a beast. Too bad he smashed it up because he LOVED that bike.
The only one I've ever been on was a Honda Shadow. Those bikes last for many years. People have always sworn by Honda because they
rarely have any problems....or not that I've heard of.

Flipped my mini truck end over end at about 60! I guess that's the speed I slowed down to aftersliding sideways for about 50 yards at about 90! Damn deer in the road! No body hurt but the back window was never found! Once I was riding in my friends LeMans at about 100 and he lost it ... we did about four three sixties through peoples yards and the car digging in and as it hit's someones driveway cement sideways it rolls the car onto it's side then it falls back to it's wheels! Russ goes ... what do we do now?" Dt says ... Haul ass!" we drive away on four flats to my neighbors junkyard! All safe after nearly being Oak tree pizza! Russ punches out the window and severes his wrist to the bone so we dump him in the back of my truck and get to the hosptal where he is out cold and dragged in!
My old 71 Torino went up to 120 and it would pass that easy enough!

You have almost "no chance" of survival on a motorcycle!

My brother in law decided to quit riding, when he got a child and felt responsible and that he couldn't gamble with his life anymore...
Good choice...

When one of my girl friends went for her motorcycle driving permit, she said that they spent hours (prior to the actual driving class) talking about facts and statistics and vewing films of accidents, in order to make a point that; you will be endangered and vulnerable etc...

Speeding is thrilling but one has to know the risks (car AND moto...)

I had a friend that back on 92 (less than one year after we graduated from High School) had an accident on a bike got on a fence and got decapitated by it. The head was in the yard of an old man and his body and bike was like 2 houses of distance.
