What the fuck is the point of this shit?, I get to see Brokedick mountain get 8 nominations, While Movies that kicked major ass this year like Batman Begins, And Revenge Of The Sith get ignored.

Here I'll Give You an Example of What I mean.

2005
Brokeback Mountain - Focus Features - Diana Ossana & James Schamus
Capote - Sony Pictures Classics - Caroline Baron, William Vince, & Michael Ohoven
Crash - Lions Gate - Paul Haggis & Cathy Schulman
Good Night, and Good Luck - Warner Bros. - Grant Heslov
Munich - Universal - Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy & Barry Mendel

I've neve seen ANY of those films, But I bet just about everyone you talk to has seen Revenge Of Sith. So Why The Fuck is the Oscars such a big deal to the TV networks these days? I mean they're treating it like the Super Bowl, But it fucking sucks.

I agree, there is no way in hell that I am going to piss away 3 hours of my life, watching hollywood spew it's far left agenda. It is a free country(at the moment) and they have the right to push the movies they want. I have the right to change the channel. I go to the movies to be entertained. There is nothing entertaining about to gay men destroying their families over their homosexual tendancies.
If I want to watch educational programming, than I will stay at home and watch The Discovery Channel or The History Channel. I do not spend 15 dollars to see reality. I go to the movies to get away from reality. The world is a really fucked up place and watching a movie like Batman Begins or Star Wars is a nice break from the world and all it's problems.

Saw a couple of them that are nominated.

Saw Brokeback Mountain. You take away the homosexual aspect (and even that wasn't all that graphic), it's just a boring love story surrpounded by a bunch of nice scenery. Didn't really think Ledger gave THAT great of a performance.

Saw Good Night and Good Luck. Again, a slow-moving story about an era that was already covered by Hollywood (Guilty By Suspicion). Straitharn was good, but the movie itself was nothing spectacular.

I just have no need to spend my time watching the film industry congradulate itself. Don't care who is wearing what on the red carpet, and have always wondered how you compare different films and performances as to which one was better than another, when they're all after different things. Acting is supposed to be an art form, but Hollywood movies are about commerce, so whatever film grossed the most is the best picture in my book.

About the only film nominated for awards that I wanted to see before it was even mentioned in terms of Oscars is Crash.

I'll watch the beginning of it, hoping that "Hollywood (or at least Jon Stewart) spews its left wing agenda"

I have no intentions in watching that show... never did, never will.

I will certainly buy the "In Style" magasine, afterwards, as they always feature the dress and those are the inspiration for lots of fashion Designers.

I don't care about who's wearing the clothes but they happen to be very important for the fashion industry.
America loves its Stars and also loves to "immitate" them!

Same goes for the M.T.V. awards... (that I don't watch either).

I don't care for Hollywood...

Can't say as I have a problem with Hollywood's 'left wing agenda', myself. Bush and his ilk have their game plan, others have theirs...

...problem is with the exception of Moore, nobody in Hollywood has really come out and gone after Bush at the Oscars. Clooney won't do it because he's too much of a puss to. He'd rather sit there with a smug grin and allude toward how Good Night and Good Luck reminds us of the times we now live in, rather than being a man and just coming out and fucking saying it.

Yep. Dillon has been in a lot of flicks I've liked over the years. For some reason, the perception of him isn't as a serious actor, but he's had a long and varied career...going way back to Over The Edge right up until today.

I really don't think PS Hoffman is all that great as a rule, although I didn't see Capote...and have no interest in doing so. Subject matter doesn't capture my interest.

TROY is a worthy film, but they seriously turn a great War story into the typical Hollywood love-story...

Sometimes Aniston can look good viewed from the right angle (i.e. the top of her head at waist-level)...

But other times she's got that fuckin' beak and just doesn't look that special...although she looked okay when Friends first got on the air...

...She's kinda like Sarah Jessica Parker for me in that respect...like, I thought she was butt-ugly when she was younger, then she got totally hot in the late 1980s/early 1990s, from about LA Story to Striking Distance, but since then she's just gotten mong (ugly).

I guess he wasn't included in the "In memorial" portion because he died before Feb. 1, 2008.

Even though Rourke didn't win, this movie has completely turned his career around. That's great news for him. He's gonna be rollin' in dough and get lots of parts in some big time movies. So he already won something much better than a statue for The Wrestler. Just take a peek at the upcoming projects he is working on.

As for the show itself, I always enjoy the "In Memorium" piece near the end. Although I find it a bit tasteless how some of the deceased get a much bigger applause than others. But then, why the fuck are they applauding the dead? That always seems a bit morbid. I know, I know...the applause is for their career work, but it just seems like "this actor died.....WOOT!"

I think some get more applause than others because they're recognized. I don't know how that display looked in the theater, but they got the camera angles all wrong this time. I couldn't even see the names of most of those dead people, so if I was going to applaud any of them, it would only be the ones whose faces I recognized. Which probably would have been Paul Newman, Roy Scheider, Charlton Heston, and maybe one or two others.

I should think the oversized paychecks these actors get for participating in what these days are mostly formulaic, shite movies would be enough in terms of self-gratification.

Nah, the oversized paycheck should be given to the people who slave over a oversized set, the lights, the props, etc...

They do the real work anyway.

What the fuck does he care about gay marriage?

He wants to legitimize his fisting fun with his boyfriend?

I assume the guy at 0:53 is his boyfriend? :)

No, I wasn't saying I was a fan, I was saying he was one of the few stiffs I would have recognized, out of all those random images of dead people flashing on the screen.

Though they should have run the clip where he said they could pry his gun from his cold dead hands (you goddamn filthy apes!!)

Mickey Rourke was better when he was playing opposite DeNiro's portrayal of my Most Unholy self.......

Satan, was the movie accurate in portraying you as someone who likes hard-boiled eggs?

Mickey didn't get paid for the movie....and he worked his fucking nuts off for 7 months actually becoming a wrestler.

He shoulda won period. He sweeped every other awards show, why not the Oscars?

Cuz they had to award it to Sean Penn playing a poofter. That's why.

Welcome to Hollywood.

I haven't seen either movie yet, so I can't say he was robbed.

BOF, have you seen both movies, or are you basing this on the fact that Penn was playing a gay man? I'm anxious to see both movies now, and THEN I'll state my honest opinion.

The director told Rourke that he couldn't pay him, but that he guaranteed him an oscar nomination. That nomination is worth FAR MORE than what he would have been paid had this not been a low-budget film.

I'll just have to see whose performance I find more believable before I can make an opinion.

Sean Penn is one hell of an actor, and from the sounds of it the director pulled one hell of a performance out of Rourke... sounds like possibly one that could have gone either way.

Never could stand them actually. Either give me a decent Spanish omelette or forget the eggs altogether.

It was all about the symbolism though. The egg as a symbol of the soul, and the Devil "eating" a soul.

Did you see "Tropic Thunder?" I think he sort of got one from Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr... Maybe a little Heath Ledger as well...

I paid absolutely no attention to the Oscars this year, but if Frank Langella didn't win best actor for his fucking brilliant portrayal of Nixon in Frost Nixon, the entire academy should be forced to review German Shit Porn films for the rest of their lives...

I haven't watched the Oscars in years and only tuned in to see Heath get the best supporting actor award.

It was great to see his family accept on his behalf but even better that they all appeared happy, all smiles, to actually celebrate Heath's achievement rather than sobbing and crying over his premature death. Beacause all those Hollywood cocksucker actors in the audience had tears in their eyes just for a nice camera opp for the press. Many of them didn't even know Heath, yet, here they were crying.

The only person who was actually showed real emotion from Heath's win was director Christopher Nolan.
