Does anyone prefer straight animos over proteins (one over the other?)
Or are you to take them different times?

I think you mean AMINO acid. Which is the building block for protein, so they are essentially the same.
If that's not what you meant, my apologies.

V, yes a typo, but I was curious as to when or why people take/buy them separately in liquid form as opposed to the protein in power form.

Steve, after many years of pumping iron, I think you're better off with the protein powder. That's just my opinion.
Get GNC's whey stuff or the similar crap from Vitamin Shoppe. Vanilla is cool because you can flavor it the way you want it. Invest in a good blender.
I think you have to take a ridiculous amount of Amino's, particularly Branched-Chain Amino Acids, at a ridiculous price, to get the same effect of a good quaility protein powder.
Leave the Amino's to advanced bodybuilders...those doing state and national level competition.

and they don't always just leave it at the aminos...;)
but yeah, i agree, go with the whey protein. the whole point of protein powders or amino acids is just to feed the muscles. you could do as well with egg whites or cans of tuna. but the protein shakes are usually easier. since i'm not training for a competition, there's no reason for me to worry about anything else, like amino acids, glutamine, etc. just straight whey for the knuckleboner.
