I've got an original MXR Flanger, so the idea of buying a reissue is a bit ridiculous for me. The button is a preset for the Unchained settings. Hell, I thought it would be some gain mod or something.

really, is that all that is? that little white button with the EVH is a prest for Unchained?? That's fuckin' sad. really sad.

I have the original as well. I also didn't buy that reissue phase shifter. Ed's a whore.

Shit, anyone with ears and opposable digits can fuck around with any flanger and get the 'Unchained settings'...

Kinda like when I saw a Jimi Hendrix stomp box that had presettings for tones of several of Hendrix's biggest hits...how fucking lazy can one get?

I got the EVH MXR Phase 90 and that was pretty good. A good phaser with two channels (one is smooth, other is rough.) Pretty versatile for a pedal.

Never tried this, probably won't either. It'll just cost a shitload.

EVH basically used only one Flanger setting. You just tweak it so you get the sound at the end of Loss of Control and you are good for almost every VH song with fanging on it including Unchained. The new digital flangers are shit. You need a good analog flanger. I actually use an Ibanez FL-9 flanger because I don't have an MXR one. I'm not buying the EVH one either. I would be embaressed to have anyone see it in my peddle board even if it sounded good.

I never thought Hendrix really had that elusive of a tone. Lets see a good wah wah peddle, a fuzz box, going into a fairly cranked tube amp and you are in the ballpark. The more pops and farts the better!
