I attended The Darkness show with my 17 year old cousin-in-law Haylee here in Adelaide on Saturday night and they ROCKED! A sold-out crowd of about 4000 South Aussies packed out the Thebarton Theatre (an old-worldy looking joint) and the atmosphere was brilliant.

The Darkness played about a 90 minute set that relied heavily on their first album, but of course, they also played several tracks from their second one. They also covered ACDC's Highway to Hell and Thunderstruck.

Justin Hawkins interacted with the crowd throughout the night, and the whole band really gives you the impression they are having a great time.

During the encore, Justin went to the right hand side of the stage, climbed onto the shoulders of some big bloke, who then preceded to carry the frontman through the crowd while he shredded away on his guitar the whole time. The crowd went nuts!

Overall, I thought the show was right up there with Velvet Revolver's performance at the same venue last year.

I didn't see ONE Van Halen tee shirt all night, but saw heaps of Led Zep, KISS, Motley Crue, Black Sabbath and GnR ones. For about two weeks before the show I tried to find a VH shirt to wear and every retailer I went to said sorry but none of our distributors have the licence for them.

However, during the night there were a few VH moments. After the very forgettable support act vacated the stage, the sound system started blasting out a number of hard rock classics for about 30 minutes to get the crowd in the mood. First up was Panama and just before they hit the stage they played Jump, which resulted in an awesome response from the crowd. The stage lights flashed during the chorus to Jump and the fans really got into it. Justin is also playing a replica of Eddie's late 70s black and white striped Frankenstrat on this tour during some songs. He also played the intro to Jump on a keyboard late in the gig before moving into one of their own numbers.

G'day ashstralia!

That's a shame you missed the show. They're a lot of fun. And that's cool you're mate did the lights in Brissy. Actually, the lighting in Adelaide was very impressive.

Hope they come back our way soon.

LOL!

Yep she's a babe and she loves Classic Van Halen (thanks to me playing it all the time).

The Darkness is getting great reviews in Oz. Julian Tompkin writing for our national broadsheet paper, The Australian, said "talented, entertaining and a little cheeky, the Darkness are the greatest live band at the moment."

Saw em in Manchester, Egland.

Justin entered on a large pair of breasts, and at the end, rather than get on a roadie's shoulders, he just flew around the arena.

Pretty cool.

I was at the 1st Sydney show on Thursday the 13th at Luna Park's Big Top

I was dressed as an 80's rocker, with the blonde wig, Nike tennis headband, Black Spandex pants and Fluffy White Boots. I went crowd surfing when they played I Believe in a Thing called love and threw Justin my chesty bonds singlet that i designed for the concert, he signalled for me to throw it to him so I hope he kept it, had the pubic flame tattoo just above where the shirt meets the waist, and a line from the song Dinner Lady arms and a Big TD symbol on the back. I just posted at www.thedarknessrock.com on their forums where there is a thread about the show i saw asking if there were any photos of me in it. If there is i'll surely post them here

Well you really got into the spirit of it! Sounds like you had a hell of a time. I've been searching the net for photos of the Adelaide show but unfortunately I haven't come across any yet. If you find any shots of the Sydney show that would be great if you could post them here.

I might check out that forum you mentioned.

Hey stilleddiesangel! You saw them in Sheffield. I was born in Yorkshire. Left for Down Under when i was five.

When I first listened to One Way Ticket to Hell I was a little disappointed. I was expecting it to be more like their debut.

Well I'm currently listening to it everyday and lovin' it lol!

They were so impressive live. If anyone is thinking about checking them out they shouldn't hesitate.

Thanks for the photo.
