Reign in Blood..... Master of Puppets and Somewhere in Time, in that order.

It's hard to pick only one.

Out of these choices, Metallica.

Slayer's was fine, too.

Somewhere In Time was where I began to lose interest in Maiden...Megadeth's Peace Sells was excellent, too.

Sadly, the last album by the REAL Metallica :(

One wonders where they might have gone after this, if Cliff had survived. "Justice" really wasn't too far off the path. I didn't hate the Black album. Even "Load" and "ReLoad" didn't really bother me. It was the way they turned on their own fans, particularly Lar$ and the whole hypocrisy around the Napster thing. Had Napster existed in 1982, Metallica would have been all over it, shopping their demo all over the known universe.

The "S&M" orchestral thing was the final turning point for me. Just a ridiculous concept and obvious cash grab. And then with St Anger, it was obvious that the band was "trying to sound like the old days" but it just came off as phony as all Hell.

A tragic waste from the band that took Metal to another level.

I would have said Master of Puppets, but it's basically just Ride the Lightning re-written, so...I opted for Slayer...

Reign in Blood is the pre-dominant blueprint for American thrash metal.

Megadeth one is a great album.......but I selected Metallica just because that album was great

"Reign in Blood", without a hesitation. That album was new, stellar, uncompromising stuff.
For a while there was Slayer and the others. I didn't get into it right from the beginning, though.
Besides, I thought it was released in 1983 (but I was wrong).

Metallica, no question...

my next favorite is Metal Church The Dark...

As far as Slayer, Seasons In The Abyss blew me away, but I'm not very familiar with reign In Blood...

Hmmm...

I was looking for something new to listen to,,,;)

I went with Ozzy, but still, I've got some more choices that I'd say:

1. David Lee Roth-Eat Em and Smile
2. Ratt-Dancing Undercover

The first Sepultura wasn't released very long after, like Pantera's first... I'm not exactly a fan, but as Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica brought on new stuff in the beginning of the 80s, both of them did bring novelty as well - more linked to tech, though. That huge sound...
