Ok, I'm thinking about buying a new overdrive. I'm currently using my old Dean Markley Overlord. I want to mix things up and try something new.
What are you people using? What's out there that sounds good? I was looking at a TS-7.

Boss gt-6 is killer but its over 300$ i love mine but i also have a little zoom 505 i have had for years and it has 8 types of distortion and you can get a used one on eaby for around 25 $ and its worth it .

Hay thats a good one but i think the pro co rat is better . I love ibanez stuff i have a old tube screamer i don't use it but i still have it and i have 5 ibanez guitars i love them the necks are thin and wide super fast i think . But you get far more with a gt-6 or a zoom than you do with the tube screamer . ill post some picks of my ibanez k dead .

I'll be honest, I don't use Distortion/Overdrive pedals. What I get, I get through my amps.

Listen... the distortions in all of the multi-effects suck. And the Zoom distortion REALLY sucks.
Get with the program.

You have too many guitars, my man.
You should keep the Les Paul, give me the SRV, and donate the rest to charity.

I've been using a Sans Amp Tri-AC for about 3 years with my smaller
amp setup (Mesa Boogie Mark III combo). A killer pedal for your $$$ ...
Each dial's 0 to 10 sweep is measured in 256 increments. The tonal
possibilities are endless. Touch response is very close tube type reaction , very cool . You can pick one up for around $200. Cdn.
Check out the samples

I own several distortion pedals, and they rarely get plugged in. Be a man and let the amp do the distorting. :D

Oh man sage, You always make me jealous... the the huge Line 6 amp.
But yeah Blackflag I use Ibanez Tube Screamer, excellent distortion at a somewhat affordable price.

LOL I'm peavey all the way . I get a great sound out of my peavey amps + gt-6 and im very happy . Hay dead you need a good peavey ? I got a shit load of them everything from the half stack to a 130 watt 1- 12 let me know i got a peavey tko 65 1 - 15 ill put on you cheap lol.
Maxon OD-808....a clone of the ORIGINAL 'tube screamer' from the 70's. Doesn't seem to thin out the amp tone like many other brands.

I have one of those....and is about as dead on to the original as you can get I think. Rarely use it though.

You bet, Eric. I have used [back in the 80's]...Boss OD1, and others, ...very thin compared to the Maxon. I also use it sparingly. Prefer straight guitar, amp & cab !
BTW....glad to have this forum back.

I'm more into designing distortions than using them these days.
Look at ZVEX.COM - he's got two that are very interesting!
Ones called a "Super Hard On" which has one MOSFET transistor, then he's got another using two MOSFETs in a dual-gainstage fashion called a "Super Duper".
These are great, new designs. Zachary Vex is fookn' GENIOUS
