TIME: Bush's five point plan to 'rescue' his presidency

RAW STORY
Published: Sunday April 23, 2006

TIME Magazine's Mike Allen outlines a "five-point plan" posited by President Bush's new chief of staff Josh Bolten to "rescue" the Bush presidency in magazines to hit newsstands Monday.

The five key points include:

1) "Deploy guns and badges" -- to play to the conservative base on illegal immigration, using the cloak of Homeland Security.

2) Make Wall Street happy through tax cuts.

3) Brag more ("highlight the glimmer of success in Iraq").

4) Reclaim security by playing tough with Iran (On Iran, "Democrats will lose").

5) Court the press (pffer Tony Snow of Fox News the job of White House press secretary)

They don't need to blame Clinton.

Clinton's failures have already been made public over the last six years.

You left off The Waco Compound Fiasco and Selling Nuclear Secrets to the Chinese off the list...

Exactly.

This 5-point plan of Bolten's just goes to show how far this administration has sunk.

It's come down to PR survival. Talk tough w/ Iran as an election strategy?

Make Wall St. Happy. Be nice to the Media?

Bush doesn't need to be 'rescued'. He's not up for re-election.

True, but the article you posted doesn't paint the full picture either.

Here's the full article: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1186555-1,00.html

Warham, seriously, the Clinton stuff is so beyond ridiculous at this point.

Yes, it is.

But I wasn't the first one to mention Clinton in this thread.

Gee,

Will the lockstep Neo-Cons in here look at this "plan", and comment on current administration's futile attempts to right the sinking ship?

Or will they just in unison turn it into another Clinton bashing thread, since they're too ashamed to admit the failures of THIS administration.....

No, I'm not going to comment.

Since you think we all speak with one mind, one of my 'neo-con' brothers will post my opinion for me.

OK?

So the obvious needs to be pointed out to you?

It's CONGRESSIONAL SEATS this administration is fighting for.

A Democratic majority will lead to impeachment hearings, and you know it.....

To quote Denzel Washingtom in TRAINING DAY:

" You want to go home, or you want to go to jail?"

Reducing the Armed Forces was Poppy Bush's plan, due to the fact that the Soviet Union no longer existed, and nobody posed a realistic threat to the United States. Clinton merely continued Poppy's time table because it made perfect sense to do so.

And in the end the only "enemy" to attack the United States - even IF you believe the ridiculous "official story" - was one of the BCE's own construction.

The same group of criminals are helping and running again with Hillary in two years. She wore the pants the first time around, anyway.

And The Chimp and Rummy had no problem invading Afghanistan and Iraq with Clinton's "denuded" military.

No Bush military budgets had been implemented before the invasions, right?

Hey Brian,

Can we agree that a group of criminals ran things from 92-2000, and that they'll take a stab at it again in 2008...........

But, what say you about the CURRENT group of criminals who have managed to CLUSTERFUCK US into the mess we're in TODAY?

Or, like Warpig, do you think the only error of this administration has been immigration.

Jesus people, IT'S NOT A CLINTON RUN CONGRESS, WHITE HOUSE, OR DEFENSE FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS IT'S BUSHCO

Warham

Bush has made several large errors and I've pointed them out here, besides immigration, but you've paid little attention, right?

I didnt want / need to post the whole article, counselor. It wasn't about any slanted op ed cut-n- paste, or background.

Just the fact they needed to Bullet Point these 5 was enough for me.

Then just sit back and watch them all fall in line together as usual...
