Last night VH1 premiered both the Ratt and the Pantera Behind the Music shows.

I found the Ratt one to be too much about Robin Crosby and his addictions. They didn't even mention that at one point there were two Ratt's touring at the same time. The high point was the footage from Robin's final Ratt concert that was so bad that they kicked him out of the band. The women that were Ratt groupies were unbelievably hot (by far the best looking collection of women ever on this show). And speaking of groupies, why is Tawny Kitaen always on VH1?

The Pantera one was unbelievable. They actually showed footage from the night Dimebag died. You culd hear the shots on the tape but they way they cropped it you couldn't see that side of the stage. When the cop killed the guy with his rifle it sounded like a cannon going off. The whole Vinnie Paul vs Anselmo thing made for some good TV.

It was so-so...

Ego is such a HUGE part of the demise of hard rock/heavy metal....

Ratt's episode is just another example...

In reference to Tawny, you know that they always show the SAME people on these shows that require interviews...

The same bald fucker from Rolling Stone...

The same groupie that seemingly blew every rocker known to man...

And Tawny.... ;)

Kind of agree about the Ratt one being too focused on Crosby, and not enough about Pearcy touring as Ratt while Blotzer and DeMartini were ALSO touring as Ratt, and the whole deal with the lawsuit over who got to use the name.

Far as Pantera and Dime, I had never really gotten into the band big-time, but their BTM was bound to be more interesting (in a morbid way) simply because of the way Dime died, which was fucked up and not a way to go out. That footage was pretty intense, even with not being able to see Dime getting shot (which I'm kinda thankful for the cropping, because that's not something I really wanted to see)...

Did the band members in Ratt come across as being retarded?

I had a video of them from the time of Invasion of Your Privacy and we used to LOL at how fucking dumb they came across in the interview segments.

DAMNIT! Can't Believe I missed That! I like BTM A lot. I have a copy of Aerosmith's on my Comp., Downloaded it somewhere, Quality is awesome.

Thats my Favorite Ep. of all time. I love the live Footage they use in it.

BTW, When is Van Halen and DLR going to do a BTM? I've been dying to see that one.

The Ratt/Pantera BTM will be on a shitload of times this month, in fact, it'll be on Saturday and Sunday...just go to vh1.com.

Van Halen should get a 2 hour BTM, but you know Ed and Al wouldn't participate...in some ways it's better for Van Halen NOT to, because in spite of the train-wreck this band has become that begs for a BTM treatment, would just as soon VH don't have that particular cheese factor associated with them...Van Hagar, 1996, Van Halen 3 and Van Hagar 2004 are cheesy enough in and of themselves.

Pearcy and Blotzer come across as being a couple of window lickers to this day.

DeMartini and Croucier can string some logical thought into their sentences, but Pearcy in particular comes across like an idiot. I always goofed on that guy, though. Especially his singing...that fucking laconic irritating nasal whine signature style...between him and Vince Neil, I'd be hard fucking pressed to tell which one sucked more.

The three best quotes on the vid I'm talking about are from memory

If you weren't a rock star what would you be doing now?

Pearcy: I would be a world famous drag star racer.

It is so funny comparing that to Spinal Tap's Nigel Tufnell talking more realistically about working in a shoe shop.

Do you consider yourselves an overnight success?

Bobby Blotzer: Not at all. An overnight success is where one day you aren't a success and then the next day you are. That never happened to us. There wasn't a day where we were hanging around not successful and then the very next day we were. If that had happened then we would be an ovenight success. But it didn't.

Do you view Invasion of your Privacy as a new step musically for the band or a progression

Pearcy: Definitely as a progression.

:D

I should dig this thing out and post it. It's funnier than Spinal Tap...:D

I'm was a Ratt fan BTW...:)

Cheers!

Dimebag R.I.P

One of the best, killer riff writer.

Apparently he was buried in a KISS coffin, how cool is that?

I've actually met Vinne Paul at a Denny's in Dallas. I asked, and yea, it was the VHII guitar. He's a really down to earth guy. As for the Ratt special, I think Pearcy sounded a bit more "there" than Anselmo in the Pantera one.
