Update: Williams (suspension) will be allowed to play for the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL this season if the Argonauts give the Dolphins written assurance that he will be released upon the end of the CFL season in November, the Miami Herald reports.

Recommendation: The Argonauts are expected to grant the requested assurance in time for the start of their training camp on Sunday. They open the regular season on June 16.

I may go check out a few games this year.

It's not the same as it was in the 80's when there was

50,000 at every game.

I think the game itself...the rules, field size, etc. is much more exciting than the NFL.
Nothing like running the ball for 3 downs for excitement.

Of course the NFL has some of the world's freakiest atheletes and it is a superb entertainment product.

I am going to see Ricky for sure.

He is going to have to learn to catch the ball in this league...may actually help him in this regard

He's a fine receiver...but obviously...it's less of a big deal in the NFL...where most teams run more than half the time...

Flamma...I know I disagree with you about certain things...

but...mother of god...I absolutely refuse to comment on a CFL/NFL debate...

Now if you want to compare the CFL to the Arena League...that's a different story...

POJO_Risin

Maybe the CFL could find a way to curb this into a sort of Minor League of the NFL type of deal...

I heard that the CFL and NFL had talked about this a few years back...maybe this is a first step...

Pojo, I think the NFL is the best single pro sports league right now.

The CFL has second-rate players in comparison, but have you watched much of it lately?

I am just saying the game itself, rules, field , etc, lends itself to a great deal of excitement.

Sometimes, the NFL can be great, others time the game is tedious.

Sure, the CFL has guys who are cut from NFL teams and have guys who could never make it there, but the game is a great product. Watch some games this year.

I used to watch it back in the 80's...

obviously...it's not a big ratings hit here in the deep south...

I'm not saying it isn't entertaining...

but more entertaining than the NFL?

I get your point...there's more excitement...because of the run and gun stylings...the motion...3 downs...

Like I said...it's more like Arena Ball than anything else...

The CFL would never, EVER change their 3 downs, field size etc.

There is alot of tradition and pride in the CFL, regardless of the image in the States.

I would like a closer affiliation with the NFL in some respects, especially if it meant seeing more marquee players from time to time.

But, for the loyal fans like in Saskatewan, who come out 60,000 strong no matter the minus 30 temperature, they deserve some player continuity and loyalty.

I would like to see the CFL try to do America again. But instead of San Antonio or Shreveport, Put it in Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Seattle, Boise, Portland, Cities close to the Border to try and devolop rivalries, Of course i love seeing pretty much all Football so it probably sounds pretty stupid.

BTW, I secound the idea of making it a Minor League to the NFL. Than have the Arena League be AA, and Then NFL Europe as Single-A.

Are there any casinos nearby?

I am sure you could bribe the bartender to put on the game on one of the 100 screens there.

Of course one is not to forget the First and Only American Team to ever win a Grey Cup. They were the only team in the CFL American Divison that was auctually doing EXTREMLY well Attendence wise, But then of course Uncle Scum moved the Browns there and people in Baltimore auctually didn't want that to happen, However it did :(.

Well, Ricky isn't doing so well in the CFL.

Last night he had another stellar game with 6 yards on 9 carries!

Truth be told, his line sucks and the Toronto team's QB, Damon Allen has only played in one game due to injuries so the defences are keying on Ricky.

Ricky had a 98 yard game (the first I think)

Hmmmm. Maybe the CFL isn't a bush league after all.

I seem to remember Ricky averaging something like 4.7 yards per carry last year with the Phins.

ALinChainz
07-09-2006, 12:00 PM
The 97 yard game was his second game I think.

The first was a 14 yard game.

And I agree, Spurgeon Wynn at QB gets nothing done for them.

POJO_Risin
07-09-2006, 01:26 PM
I know this is a way to keep Ricky in shape...

but again...you have to wonder where his state of mind is...

I'm sure he's doing this for the Phins...and not for him...

and he's not stupid...

imagine...knowing your team is essentially saying...go up there and play so we can deal you...

and him realizing that since it was leaked as a possibility...if he refuses...he looks like a quitter again...

I remember when he used to give the Cowboys fits when he was with the Cardinals back in the late 70's. Of course I was only a kid at the time.

I just think that the notion that the CFL is some sort of Arena Football calibre league is horseshit.

Again, The Toronto team needs to get Allen back at QB and help block for the man, but you just can't come to this league and expect to dominate.

Defences are getting jacked for these games and many have played against Ricky in the NFL as well.

ALinChainz
07-11-2006, 10:29 PM
I agree that it isn't as bad as Arena Flamma ... I do.

But a lot of these guys would be playing NFL ball if they could, and the fact that Ricky is having this tough a time has more to do with his lack of fire than anything in my opinion. Yeah he's being keyed on, but with 3 downs, they still have to lean toward the pass. He should be having better success than 214 yards thus far.

Romeo Delight

Apparently, the Toronto team was going to let Ricky pass on the rookie initiations where they had to get up in front of the team and perform something...a song, dance, whatever.

Ricky insisted on getting up there and performed some ridiculous twisted yoga showing some phenomoenal feats of strength and flexibility.

At least he is trying to become part of the team.
