I think Judas Priest - Breaking the Law and Zeppelin - Out on the Tiles are awesome.

Queensryche - I don't believe in love and Sepultura - Chaos AD rule. Hanger 18 and Peace Sells by Megadeth are killer too. I also love Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love!

The most simple riffs tend to make the song great!

Tony Iommi wrote all the best ones...

I haven't really been into sabbath.... but i just downloaded 8 of their records off of usenet. Which one would you recommend diving into first? I like RJD a lot more than ozzy too, keep in mind.

That being the case?

"Mob Rules"...

Most underrated Sabbath album ever recorded, and one of their absolute best...an RJD/Iommi classic if ever there was one...

I'll be sure to check it out!

Does it stand up to Holy Diver?

That and then some, IMO...

Not EVERY song on the album is a classic (which is the case with Holy Diver), but the highlights are numerous...Turn Up the Night, Voodoo, The Sign of the Southern Cross, The Mob Rules, Country Girl, and Slipping Away are my personal faves...

I thought that everything on holy diver was classic hehe.

As do I...

Ronnie, in my eyes, does VERY few things wrong musically...

Except Operation Mindcrime 2... his vocals seemed so weak on that record. The whole thing wasn't that great.

I don't blame him too much for that, though...I'd imagine he just did it as a favor...I don't think the mix was all that great, honestly.

We should have a new Dio album by years end though, so I'm sure he'll redeem himself...he usually does...

He did just come out w/ Holy Diver Live.

Comparing ANYTHING against mindcrime is a BIG mistake. Geoff Tate is losing his mind!

I'll email it to you or PM it to you if you want.... I personally thought that his vocals are weak. What do you expect at his age?

bueno bob
06-25-2006, 06:26 AM
Hard saying...I saw him back in 2000 and he sounded wonderful...not as powerful as he was at, say, 40...but still good...

For pushing 70, I'll say this - he sounds 1000x better than Ozzy does...and Ozzy's what, ten years younger or so?

I'm really stoked to hear Ronnie's new material with Sabbath on that "Dio Years" box set coming out...that can't happen too soon for me...

Ozzy's voice is unique, not great.

I appreciate it - I'll actually buy it, though...

Having met the man personally and seen how cool he is, I'm glad to throw a few cents his way every time he puts something out...

One of these days I'll have to get that picture of Ron, my old guitarist and I up...I know it's around somewhere, it's a matter of finding it...

Ron probably gets nothing from those album sales. The fucking Riaa, download services, and the music record labels get it all. RJD probably gets less than a nickel.

That's usually industry standard, I think...I remember once reading that Ozzy was one of the highest makers per CD sale and he was somewhere in the vicinity of 30 cents per disc...

No wonder Bruce was encouraging people to download Dance of Death for free on that particular tour...doesn't matter to the musicians...all the revenue is in touring and merchandise...

When you "cum" to Rotharmy, you need to shut porn mode off ;)
