This album changed your life. From start to finish, there is not ONE boring spot. 10 minute epic songs, awesome guitars, killer vocals.... it makes your ears bleed with pleasure. You don't ever fast forward through this; you actually play it back to back numerous times.
Rules: No VH, no DLR.

My first recommendations : Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime and Dio - Holy Diver.
Pantera - Cowboys from Hell and Kiss - Alive II.

Appetite for Destruction and UYI 1 and 2 - GNR.

There are three albums (outside of CVH/DLR) that give me that rush you are talking about no matter how many times I hear them

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Metaliica - Black Album

Guns n Roses - Appetite

There are tons of records that I love and cherish, but those three are just somewhere else in my estimation. Don't feel that I am qualified to say that they are the best ever, they're just my favourites and all three have helped me through some tough times.

In a different way, I would say that

Alice In chains - Dirt

Is quickly rivalling those three in my estimations, it just gets better and better with age.

Yeah...at the risk of blowing my own horn loudly, I'm a virtual fucking encyclopedia of doom, trust me...

And at the risk of sounding too Eddie Van Halen about it...I've got four albums right now waiting to go...

If I ever go back to it...which isn't likely...

HEAVIEST Sabbath album ever?

"Born Again".

Ian Gillan on vocals and Geezer fucked the final mix (which is why you should never never never let your bassist near the mixing boards...), but it's without a doubt some of the HEAVIEST material Tony Iommi ever put to tape...but songs like "Disturbing the Priest" and "Zero the Hero" are just oppressive...the title track, "Born Again", just...it's one of those gloomy songs that makes you wanna slit your wrists in the bathtub just to get away from the daily darkness of life..."Hot Line" is a great rocker and a real vocal exercise for Ian, one of his best on tape, Purple, solo or otherwise..."Trashed" and "Digital Bitch" are pretty decent faster numbers..."Keep it Warm" is a mid-tempo...I don't want to say ballad, but...borderline ballad, maybe - nice way to end the album, sure...

Highly recommended, once you get around the mix...

Lucifuge, as an album, is more southern flavored...but if you didn't like Danzig I, you probably won't like this any better...

Good man!

Alice in Chains were one the best bands of the nineties, period.

Absolutely unique and did the most difficult thing for any heavy band: managed to be heavy and melodic, that's not easy.

Layne Staley's voice does tend to get annoying to me though.

Albums that changed my life?

Obviously, Van Halen.

A Night At The Oprea (Queen)
Overkill ("No Class" got me hooked) (Motorhead)
Who's Next
Fragile (Yes)
Dark Side of the Moon
Blizzrd of Ozz

And...quite oddly...the Blues Brothers Soundtrack...

I must do a section of live albums. There were a number of live albums that made me want to be a rock & roll fan, and made me believe that live music was the most important aspect o fbeing a rock & roll band. If I'm honest these were the albums that changed my life...

Live...In The Heart of the City
Made In Japan
Strangers in the Night
Live & Dangerous
Live at Wembley (Queen)
Exit...Stage Left
P.U.L.S.E.
ELP-Works Live
Strangers in the Night

These were probably the albums that shaped who I am today.
