NWA: Straight Outta Compton came close though.

Tough competition here.

Public Enemy & NWA clearly both deserving of the honors.

Beastie Boys - the ONLY White rappers ever worth a damn. (Marshall Mathers ain't SHIT without Dre, and y'all know it)

But the honors here have to go with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, because they were among the first to take rap from the streets and put it on the radio (and MTV) paving the way for all the others mentioned above. (Including Run DMC who belong in the running more than half of those listed in this poll)

Well I definately agree FORD, that they are the most influential of the bunch listed. However as far as videos are concerned, the 8 minute uncensored "Fight The Power" video from Public Enemy and directed by Spike Lee was the best overall... PE definately raised the conscious level of hip hop in the late 80's... and had a great overall message for the black youth.

The term "Best Rap Video" is an oxymoron....
