YNGWIE DOWN UNDER:
Guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen is coming down under for three very special shows. They are:
Nov. 14 - The Arena Ent. Complex - Brisbane
Nov. 15 - Enmore Theatre - Sydney
Nov. 16 - The Palace - Melbourne

When's the last time he went down under...

Shit Hey...

I dont recall when he was last here.
(Has he ever been to Oz ??)
If he did come here, I either didnt care, was too wasted
to care, or was so wasted I cared, but couldnt navigate
my way out of the house !

So it was probably the mid-late 80's if he has visited.
Dunno if I'll go this time around.

I think Yngwie is awesome, but I get bored of the wanking
after 10 minutes. Not sure I could watch 2 hours of guitar
masturbation....

MW, did they mention who has the "vocal duties" ??
If its Jeff Scott Soto (is that how you spell it) it would
be a good show, especially if they focused on Rising Forces
and Marching out.

That, I would go to see...

Dougie White is the singer...

And I think Yngwie is worth seeing, even if you only stay 10 minutes...

I thought he was much better with Alcatrazz. His playing had all the lightning fast noodling but had some interesting rhythm playing that helped make the music more listenable. would be nice if he would do a show or two with Graham Bonnet again. fat chance though.

That fat fuck can really move those puffy fingers. It is always a show stopper when he plays "I Am A Viking" on a side of baby back ribs.

Mezro...Yngwie with Doogie Howser on vocals...now I would que up for that...for about five minutes...

Panamark

Yngwie has had way too many different era's. He would
probably only play ten minutes worth of the shit I like anyway.

I purchased "The Best of Yngwie Malmsteen" on CD a few months
back, and found about four tracks that I actually remembered and
liked.

(All from Marching Out and Rising Forces)

I wonder if he still uses chemical assistance. Its almost unbelievable
at how well he can still play considering the car accident and
"puffy fingers"

Actually there is an Alcatrazz reunion in the works...

Hey is it just me, or does that song (I'll see the light tonight)
sound like it would be a great one for Ronnie James DIO..

Hmmm interesting concept....

Self intrigue, .............. its intriguing....

ELVIS
07-19-2006, 05:47 AM
Yngwie once said DIO was the greatest vocalist in Rock And Roll...

So, ummm...yes...

I have a live version of Man On a Silver Mountain with Yngwie and Dio somewhere on a cassette tape...

I believe their egos prevented them from working together...

DIO & YNGWIE did cover "DREAM ON" together a few years back............................

Yngwald J and Ronaldo J should have done an album.
RJD's vocals would have fitted right in with that era..
No offence to JSS who did an awesome job.

Actually, last obvious internet search I did quoted Yngwie as saying he wouldn't rule it out BUT he was too busy.

Just like another band we all know and love, I'll be happy IF I see it happen and won't believe it till I do.

I thought what I read sounded pretty positive...

Maybe it was from a Graham Bonnet site...;)

Alcatrazz could reunite without the fury. I think Steve Vai could handle it again. I'd rather see him with Dave though, since Ed's too busy and all.

Graham Bonnet...words cannot describe...

Does he actually HAVE any fans, out of curiosity, or just people who know him by Blackmore, Malmsteen, and Vai?

You COULD say his discography sounds "varied"...I would say he's a lead singer with absolutely ZERO personality, originality, presence, or talent...

He can sing loud, and really, that's about it.

And I can think of about a million loud singers who sound a thousand times better than Bonnet does in upper volumes.

I keep the Alcatrazz albums around for emergency Malmsteen or Vai situations, and I have the best of Rainbow set, but with everything else I've ever heard out of Bonnet...awful...wouldn't own any of it on a bet...the most I could stomach was "Line Up" and he had half of Deep Purple and Rainbow helping him out for it.

As far as an Alcatrazz reunion, I'm all for it to hear Yngwie bust out with his older shit, sure...but as far as I'm concerned Graham Bonnet is the downside to pretty much any band he does his "Singer-For-Hire" routine with...

I'd be just as happy seeing Yngwie do an Alcatrazz set as an encore with his current band, probably more so...

bueno bob
07-22-2006, 09:22 AM
Graham has a "one album" policy for most of the bands he joins as singer, anyway (Rainbow, MSG, Impellitteri, Blackthore...probably others)...I remember a few years back a rumor flying around that he was confirmed as Van Halen's lead singer (this was back in 2001, I think)...

I had a fucking laughing fit at it because, even though the joke wasn't ever clarified specifically...it was so obvious in it's implications...

A real beauty...

Had to bump this one due to the blazing performance.
Shame on the video director for the choppy close ups but this version is a classic.
This is available on the Yngwie video collection which has much of the Leningrad footage as well.
