Presence of Love - 1987

Note to Van Hagar and the hair bands - it is possible to write a "love song" without drowning it in Velveeta

"Unsafe Building" - 1990

The last single by the Original Alarm lineup, and a remake of a song they originally recorded a decade earlier

The Chant Has Just Begun - 1985

One of the more obscure Alarm singles. Blame the record company.... they thought the band would hit it big with a "Duran Duran like dance tune". Some experiments are best left in the laboratory.......

Superchannel - 2006

This is the current single from Mike Peters' "New Alarm" lineup. Usually I'm skeptical and with good reason when one remaining member holds on to a band name, but this new material sounds great. Now if only I can actually find the album anywhere in this country.......

45 RPM - 2005

The Alarm released this single last year under the false name "The Poppyfields" after an argument with their record label over the viability of a 20 year old band having a hit single.

Of course the song WAS a hit, and then the band revealed themselves in this video, appearing along with the "band" they had hired to be the "milli vanillis" in their publicity stunt. Damn great way to have a laugh at the corporatists expense, if you ask me ;)

Without A Fight - 2006

Although the lyrics don't mention it specifically, this song may have been inspired by Mike Peters' own recent battle with Leukemia in recent years. He's now in complete remission, thank God. :)

I've never quite figured out why this band gets so much love. I never hated them. Never loved them. Much like Radiohead.

Shit. I totally missed it. Guess I'll have to catch a repeat. XM usually runs something like that a few times. "Fred" is a decent channel, but I probably listen to "Fungus 53" more, for the good old Punk Rock. But if Fred's playing The Alarm, I might change my mind.

I saw The Alarm open for U2 at a Jai Alai arena in Orlando.

THAT was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
