Hey Im a jealous fucker reading about some of the
double bills my US/English bro's have attended... Got me thinking,
whats the best double bill, you have seen.... ??

For me, it was the original AC/DC and another Australian
hard rock band "The Angels" known as Angel City in the US.
Way way back in the early 80's at the Myer music bowl in Melbourne.
I remember trying to get a buzz off some Coke (Cola) mixed with
headache tablets and a bottle of vanilla essence.. (Hey I was like
12 at the time).. My chemicals were cheap, and didnt do much...

But, CRIKIES !!!! those two bands blew the
200,000 strong crowd away.... Some other old Aussie rockers
may have been there... That shit was awe inspiring...

Ok, make me jealous... (Im thinking Van Halen/Black Sabbath)
etc etc...

In my young age-the best one I saw was Judas Priest/Scorpions. Also, Alice Cooper/Twisted Sister was pretty damn good. So was Motorhead/Anthrax.

out of those 3, (if given a choice) would have to go to the
priest/scorpions gig..

That would have been a cool gig... Who played last ??

Some of my favs that I remember and saw (I've missed too many opening acts and only in retrospect have I regretted it):

Vince Neil/Van Hagar.
Alice in Chains/Van Hagar.
Metallica/GNR (Shortened due to Axl's childishness).
Skid Row/Bon Jovi.
Living Colour/Rolling Stones.

It was just last year or so.

I thought the Scorpions blew Priest away just by having a sense of humor. Priest were like Spinal Tap with an old biker queen singing...:) They were embarrasing.

They sounded fine, my pals and I were in the monority to be honest because most of the crowd dug it.

It's not the gay thing though that doesn't help. It was all so fucking serious whilst at the same time dressed in early 80s spandex and studded wristbands. We couldn't get past the visuals.

I know it's all nostalgia but to me either you dress the same and do it with a smile and tongue in cheek or you lose the British Steel look and play it straight(so to speak).

We were maybe too close to the front as well, just a couple of rows back in a small arena so the sound was distorting too.

I dunno what can I say? We had a decent amount of beers before the show but personally it wasn't enough...:)

We left during Victim of Changes...

Cheers!

I assume you have seen Priest before Mr S..
Ive never had that chance, so I would probably put up with
"the look" if the music was good....

I wouldnt dress like those dudes in a million years,
but some of their songs are mindblowing....

I wouldn't say Priest were embarrassing. They sounded GRATE (although it was so loud that you couldn't hear it at times). I could put up with the costumes because I don't tend to care what people wear onstage as such (also, I'd never seen them before). Although, Halford looked seriously weighed down by those huge jackets. It was really just Halford who looked silly. Glenn and KK looked fine to me-as did Ian and Scott. It was really just Halford who needs to re-think his stage costumes.

The TS/Maiden show was full-on arena 80's. Headbanging metal...TS blew Maiden off the stage. Took like 45 minutes for 'em to kick in TNOTB.

The triple bill was full-on Slayer @ the height of power. (might have posted this before) You could talk during Overkill's set, you had to talk really loud during Motorhead's set. Slayer came on, and chairs started flying...really fucking loud. Two songs in, the dude that drove got scared, and we had to abandon ship.

Saw a good triple bill in Toronto- Motorhead, Dio, Iron Maiden
Also Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper

Actually Alice usually has good opening acts. I saw him in the late 80's with Motorhead opening.

best double-Metalica & GnR Rose Bowl. GnR @ Collesium w/Stones was historic, Stones were unwatchable after the energy drained in the rain.

Best was 4th night of GnR/Skid Row at Forum Skid Row was perfect but GnR was EPIC! 4hrs 15min's long every song they had ending about 2:30 am. Eye level with stage 15 feet from the piano. Before 2 Avel says if any of you need beer you best leave now cause the stores close in 15 minutes. Were gonna pay extra security OT tonight. This was Guns at the top months before Illusions came out. They were tight and night before they only played 2 and half-this was and is the only into the wee hour show been to or heard of....nobody left early, but when we did are jaws were dragging throught the parking lot
