These guys were one of my favorites growing up and once I was old enough to see them live I became more of a fan. They always had fantastic energy, a great sense of humour, and some pretty catchy songs.

Check 'em out...

Their biggest hit (US and Canada)...Stand Tall (my first YouTube embed attempt, please work):

Yeah, too bad they couldn't keep it up. Their last release Method To The Madness was fantastic but came in the early nineties as Hair Metal began to die. Unfortunate because it's my favorite from beginning to end.

Cool band...great videos.

Heard 'Heavy Mental Breakdown' on some compilation tape I had bought in the mid 80's and got hooked.

That last video...fucking hilarious...I think they were going for the Hagar look!

I saw them live 4 or 5 times at the same bar in Hull, Quebec, in 1988 or 1989 (the bar was Roxanne's and always booked the best metal bands, early in their careers). At every show there was some drunk fuck screaming for Heavy Mental Breakdown at every song break. Finally, at the last show, just after the opening number, the lead singer jumps onto this guys table and screams "Shut the fuck up!" and they break into the song - keeping asshole quiet for the rest of the set. My buddies and I laughed our asses off.

I'd never seen that last video. Well, it was the eighties and everyone did something a little cheesey. I wore a pink Polo shirt for a while and had my share of Miami Vice pastels as well (don't tell anyone)

I always found their name more interesting than the music. HMB was a good song, but then they kind of went soft.

The Dwarfs fuckin rock ! Tons of great memories with this band. First time I saw them was at Larry's Hideaway in T.O. in '85 . Great dump that place was. Nothin but hookers , drunks , junkies doin business upstairs. Anyway for the encore they do Heavy Mental Breakdown and my buddy (extremely boozed) jumps onstage and joins Russ Dwarf on vocals. Well (extremely boozed) towers the dude and ends up having Russ in a friendly headlock for most of the tune , fuckin hilarious ..

Another time I remember ,they were playing at the Dallas club in Hamilton and my friiend was passed out ,face dow at his front row table. Of course Russ can't resist fuckin with him . So he jumps off the stage , runs through the people up front , jumps onto my passed out friends table and procedes to stand on his head and continues to sing the song in his passed out face . My friend slowly comes to and recoils backwards off his chair , wipes out a whole table of drinks and ends up flat on the floor. Fuckin classic.

Around that time the mushrooms we all dropped earlier really started to kick in. I remember sitting on the stage , off to the side in my own little world. Oblivious to security and management , I decided to spark up a doob when not a second later Mike Dwarf (guitarist) is hittin me up for a toke. No sooner he has one, takes off to play the solo in the song , Russ having caught a whiff , rides his famous tricycle across the stage at me , wipes out , rolls over to me with a shit- eatin grin and says "may I". He sat there and finished the song with me as we killed the doob. Try that shit in a club nowadays !

Russ is now a professional goat farmer north of Toronto. Apparently makin a great living at it.

Great thread.

Those are pretty much the same memories I have of watching this band. I'd forgotten all about the singing on his head and the tricycle. Roxanne's was the same kind of bar you've described. Nothing but french Hull hookers, bikers, and their tag-along wannabes. The guys can had no door and neither did the shitters. So much easier to bust the coke dealers when the cops raided the place. Fantastic memories!
