A suicide bomber detonated a car packed with explosives outside the Baghdad Hotel housing Iraqi government leaders and US contractors. A suicide car bombing killed at least seventeen people and injured more than 120 in Riyadh. In this latest attack, an explosives-laden car struck an upscale villa compound in western Riyadh inhabited by mainly Saudis and Arab nationals, however, the area was formerly home to many US contracters. Al-Nasiriyah , Iraq , two vehicles approached the Italian Carabinieri Corps' MSU (Multinational Specialized Unit) command post. A white car with four persons inside preceded another, heavier vehicle carrying explosives. When the first vehicle passed in front of the Carabinieri base, diversionary shots were fired from the lead vehicle, while the second truck reached the target and exploded, resulting in the death of 19 Italians and 13 Iraqi civilians, according to media reports. So, if you read 6%, it might really have been 9 or 10%

Try "La Fin du Monde"... it is 11%...

I thought that La Fin Du Monde tasted kinda heavy. 11% would be the reason why. When beer gets that much alcohol, the sugar gets to be a bit much even for a seasoned beer drinker such as myself. Definitely not one to drink on an empty stomach!

Actually, the "Trois Pistoles" has a 11-12% alchool content without the heavy sweet taste... (so they say).
It is a dark beer.

My favorite beer is Molson Pilsner....as far as I know it is only available in Sask. and Alberta.

It was once brewed in Saskatchewan...but the brewery closed and it is now made in Alberta.

The flavour changed....and not the good way.

I need to correct the alcohol content numbers on Unibroue's products:

Maudite - 8%
Fin Du Monde - 9%
Trois Pistoles - 9%

They've only ever made one beer as high as 11% and it was called La 11 - I've never seen this one for sale anywhere...very disappointing.

Sleeman's partnership with Unibroue will not have any effect on the Unibroue brands (Upper Canada beers were unaffected - try Rebellion Lager BTW - very tasty!!). Sleeman has been buying provincial brewers outside of Ontario for years as it facilitates the distribution of their name brands - the provincial trade barriers in our country are more easily negotiated when you own a company in said province.

What could be of more concern for any brewery owned by Sleeman is that it has been sold to Sapporo (deal hasn't been approved yet but it's essentially a done deal - $400M). I'm happy the sale went to Sapporo as the thought of Sleeman's being bought out by Coors/Molson was quite unpleasant. Sapporo is a premium beer brewer and has expressed a desire to expand both Sleeman and Unibroue brands in the US. Sapporo recognizes the supperb brewing qualities found in both brand names and with Unibroue it sees itself getting one of the most respected and award garnering beer producers in the world. A status symbol that would make any Japanese businessman proud.

Oh, and by the way, Unibroue's beers are yummy! Raftman and Trois Pistoles are my favorites. La Terrible, the one and only one I've had, was probably the best beer I've ever tasted. Unfortunately, I've never seen it again.
