AC/DC frontman Angus Young was crowned Kerrang! Legend at this year's Kerrang! Awards in London.

His band graced the first ever cover of the British rock magazine back in 1981.

Kerrang! editor Paul Brannigan called them "one of the most important and influential rock bands in history".

Welsh group Lostprophets were named this year's Best British Band and also scooped the Best Album award for Liberation Transmission.

Rockers Muse won Best Live Band while Bullet For My Valentine picked up the Best Single award for Tears Don't Fall.

Best Band On The Planet went to My Chemical Romance.

The Prodigy won the Spirit of Independence award and Placebo were honoured with the Classic Songwriter award.

Sheffield band Bring Me The Horizon were named Best British Newcomers.

The awards, voted by magazine readers, were held at The Brewery in east London and hosted by former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable.

It's to be expected really. Your average Kerrang reader is between 14 to 18 years old. So to keep selling mags and staying in business they need to make it relevant to them.
