Rented the DVD yesterday...I had heard only good reviews about the movie but I gotta say I enjoyed it quite a bit...there was nothing I didn't know before, in the facts of the movie, but still, it's full very cold-blooded and dark humour and reality...if you haven't seen it yet, go rent it now...

Yuri Orlov: "Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947. More commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the world's most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It'll shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand. It's so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars. "

Yuri Orlov: [/i]"You know who's going to inherit the world? Arms dealers. Because everyone else is too busy killing each other."[/i]

Yuri Orlov: "Some of the most successful relationships are based on lies and deceit. Since that's where they usually end up anyway, it's a logical place to start.

*****

"The first and most important rule of gun-running is: Never get shot with your own merchandise."

The movie is so full of inacuracies and rediculouse that no way can I call it a seriouse film. To me it was more of a dark comedy like a Tarratino film in a way.

I liked the movie. A great flick to pull a beer buzz and watch.

I love the picture you posted. The African warlord is shooting a Automat Kaloshnikov Modern (AKM). The AK-47 has a milled reciever and the AKM has a stamped reciever.

Anyways, notice he has belts of what appears to be 7,62x54 Russian ammo. Now he's shooting an assault rifle that only uses magazines and shoots a different caliber. Why is he carrying all that extra wieght (ammunition belts are heavy)? No good reason other than it looks badass.

Anyone who has fired a belt fed machine gun knows you only can shoot a small belt or the feeding gets tangled up. That's why you need another person to hold the best as one fires. Plus, smart soldiers leave the ammo in the ammo can. It feeds better and assures dirty doesn't get into the feed mechanism or bolt.

But the dude looks bad ass and that is what the movie is all about.

Definately worth watching. Plus any film that features Jared Leto getting killed is a winner in my book
