Do you have a key with with three markings: An up-pointing arrowhead, a wiggly line (i don't know what it's really called), and the umlaut sign on it, on the left side of your return key?
If you do, simple press that key and Alt simultaniously and after that the letter you want the umlaut on.

Español also have the umlaut in words like
güiro - a tipical puertorrican (I guess) instrument
pingüino - penguin
higüera - a plant
.............I can't really remember any other word.....but I know there are a lot more
It is used only over the letter u

My keyboard is in english
I just do shift + " and then press the letter desired and it appears the umlaut

example shift + "
then o
= ö

otherwise the alt+ 148 = ö
you have to find the others because they are not close numbers
