My daddy always warned me about mechanics. He taught me how to change my own oil, and spark plugs.

Every time I can't do the oil change myself, I get under the car and put a black signature on the oil filter and then check it right in the parking lot of the mechanic after the work is done. Twice I've had to go back in and tell them that they didn't change the oil filter.

The trick is to get a mechanic who treats your vehicl like his own and will do you no wrong.

I have a guy who is absolutely the best mechanic I have ever dealt with. He is a straight shooter, who never white-washes the truth, but also does lotsa little extra stuff for me that he refuses to take payment for.

Unfortunately, there are the usual percentage of criminals in the business....
