I was born in October.

I'm curious as to what time of year most folks here were born. It's my theory that most people are conceived during the winter months because it's cold outside and people have nothing better to do on a cold winter's day than fuck when they're cooped up inside the house. Therefore, most people are born in the latter part of the year.

Probably a stupid theory...

Yeah, but the summer months are when everyone walks around half naked. There's always a reason for some fuckin'.

Actually I read somewhere that the natural human mating season (yeah, apparently we have one, too) starts with summer so that babies would be born in the spring when it starts to get warmer. Back in the day and all.

June and my old lady was born in July, but our daughter was born in November; therefore, shooting down both theories.

When my kid started school, she was invited to so many birthday parties in March so I developed my own theory. June is a popular month for weddings and nine months later is March. To the contrary, my wife says most mammals start their breeding season in early spring, and at the end of the day, who am I to argue?:D

It's not really a theory. The fact of the matter is that humans have pulled themselves away from nature so much that an official mating season really no longer exists, just like women's periods no longer are controlled by the moon. If we all slept outside and lived like our ancestors did way back when, we would have women instep with the moon and births instep with the seasons.

Makes sense to me. No need to go back to our ancestral ways to find out though. The hell with the moon and seasons :D

Right now, there is a BABY BOOM in our province...
Very simple;

Since January 2006, the provincial gvmnt is offering a great maternity leave deal (one year off and you job back guaranteed), paid at 75% of your salary...
It also applys to fathers that want to share that time and $$$...

So that women don't have to see their careers and incomes suffering.

What a great thread?:)

There is a tiny bit of truth in your theory. There is usually a small rise in births in September after the Christmas holiday season fuckfest.

Actually I can almost track the nine months down to
New Years Eve :p

And it fits Ally's theory too, in Australia Spring starts on
the first of September. Its just starting to warm up here.
I LOVE IT !!!

I cant stand the colder weather..

If it wasnt for work, I would be in Northern Australia
having summer all year..

So Im a festive fuck ??? Cool...

Can the mother and father be off and collect at the same time?

My wife is due in November and she can go off on Employment insurance for one year.
I can go off work too but only one of us can claim and get money.
If she went back to work before her year is up I can then claim the rest of the time left under parental leave.

Does Quebec use EI and top it up or is it just different all together?

The father automatically gets 5 weeks paid at 75% at the begining, WITH the mother.
After that, it has to be shared, either or...

It lo longer has to do with E.I. it's all provincial now and you can chose between 1 yr. paid at 75% or 2 yrs at 60%.
There is a lot of other advantages that include not having to work for another full year before having a second child etc...

Nothing tops that in the whole American continent! :D

Or maybe it's just the booze and booze-related opportunities (like holidays, esp Christmas and New Years) that help stack on the babies.

Like me. I was planned in that they wanted a kid, they were in the middle of trying, they were figuring out Ma's cycle and all that. But, I'm a St. Patty's baby and happened when trying was the last thing on their mind. Sometimes somethings don't benefit from over-planning; they benefit from booze. :D

We actually did this in my math class (and counted the set of twins as one just so he could prove it) and we had several people in a group of 30 with the same birthday. It was cool.

There was a thread like this at another Roth site and I was not really surprised to see that people born under certain zodiac signs were more likely to be Roth fans than others. Virgo is one for sure because generally, Virgos want to be like Libras (all though they have trouble letting loose like Libras do). So, Virgos are usually "fans" of Libras.

The funny thing is that both Hagar and Roth are Libras.

Hmmmm....coincidence?
