A buddy of mine, who's an Aussie from Sydney (a damn cool dude, whose name is... Dave) and married a woman from here in the French Alps, told me about a way to travel in the USA that he used himself with his wife some years ago.

They landed in LA, where they fetched a car that belonged to an American couple who were to fly to Miami 10 days later.
So Dave and his wife had the mission to drive their car from LA to Miami within those 10 days. Which means a damn long drive, but gas, tolls, etc were paid back - if not in advance.
They told me they could enjoy it, despite the long long drive - they could stop for half a day in the Grand Canyon for example.

Unfortunately, we were at a very loud gig and had a lot of beer, so I can't remember how the system is called (then it's pretty hard to google for it).
I really dig driving myself, and this way of traveling, which gets you in a hurry, also cheapens your stay.

So, does anybody know how the system is called, and if it's still current?

Cheers in advance. :)

BTW, does it exist in Canada and Australia too?
