Great band that made great records with great tunes.

Competent enough live, if not enthralling.

Should've stayed dead, though...the whole current business with Rundgren was and is a mistake.

True originals. The first record is an analog masterpiece.

You gotta give it to Rick Okasek...Paulina Portsikova (sp)? Scarecrows with guitars land legendary pieces of ass!!!

Candy-O was my first 8-track cassette that I owned. Always loved The Cars.

The band died with Benjamin Orr.

Even Ric knows that.

A very good band, but was hindered by their often subpar nights live, and Ric Ocasek's moodiness.

The greatest hits package by Rhino is just great sounding though.

Killer band.

The New Cars is just wrong.

The problem with The Cars live is they were so wooden on stage that it lulled the crowd. I still play the 1st 2 and Shake It Up a lot and Heartbeat City occassionally.

I really hate the idea of the New Cars. Ric is essential for anything to have the Cars name, and without Benjamin Orr, there's just nothing there to see except EE's guitar playing. Todd should be ashamed for lowering himself to this kind of sell-out level.

I tried listening to some tracks off the live 'New Cars' CD and have mixed feelings about it. Some songs sound really good, but when I heard 'Drive' I almost vomitted. The bass player they now have did the vocals and he did a terrible job on it. Ben Orr had that magical touch with that song. Ric Ocasek on the other hand just didn't want to do it again. Todd Rungren is a very talented musician, but this Cars venture was just not right.

I may argue about one thing, and that's the live performances. I read reviews and most of them were positive because Todd really gets into the music. Ric just seemed not interested and rather wanting to get the show overwith. Todd just wanted to get the crowd rocking. But when it comes down to the bottom line, I am very thankful we have the old CDs in our libraries and radio stations. Just another rebuilt band.

Didn't The Cars also have a six-pack of original albums? Not including all of the greatest hits packages or live cd's. Maybe that's a cursed number in music.

Funny story about this scene. On the DVD interviews, Judge Reinhold said he had a dildo that he was using in the masturbation scene and didn't tell the cast, so the look on Phoebe's face was actually true horror.
