Hell, I remember from that jam session from "The Last Waltz" DVD in which Neil Young breaks out the gibson and owns Clapton. Eric should have gotten a louder amp for that one.

True. Unfortunately for Clapton he was in the throws of heroin addiction. Around that time even Lou Reed could've owned him too.....
Even today Beck is as dangerous as he ever was, thank god!
It would be a shame to see J.B in the deteriorated condition EVH is in...
Viva la Beck !

Nah. Crapton had cleaned up off of smack by the time the Last Waltz was filmed. He was probably coked up and drunk, though.

Always overrated in my estimation anyway. No shock that Beck walks all over him.

INDEED! Cheers, diamondjimi!

I really dig the song in itself, great lyrics!

I guess Clapton knew what he was doing by inviting the Jeff... who just kicked his butt. :)
But I don't think there's a competition between them, they're old friends, they've long taken different alleys, and... who could ever compete against Beck anyway?

Saw that show in Dallas in '83 and Beck blew Clapton and Page combined away. I went out and bought Truth, Wired, Beck-ola, and a couple of others right after that, but nothing compares to seeing him go off live.

Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen are actually very good friends. Man, would I have loved to be a fly on the wall when those two were noodling before Ed lost it.

Clapton really sucks. what's he doing now eh? nothing. where is Jimmy Page? no one knows.
but Beck is still active unlike those fuckers.
can't wait for his new album that is supposed to be released next year. I'm sure he will do a hell of a job again!

GRATE SONGS!!!

I saw Clapton 2,5 months ago. It was good to see him once in my lifetime but...

It was disappointing, his band was too big. 3-4 guitarists, 2 keyboardists, 3 back-up singers...it's too much, even the good songs turn too massive and lose their tightness and the original idea...I'd love to see him with Cream but like this, no thanks...

BRING BACK THE OLD CLAPTON!!!

His "Rock Legends" video from somewhere in the late 70's IS smashing but the last 20 years...disappointing adult poprockblues.

Clapton does get lazy but don't make it sound like he can't carry Beck's luggage for christ's sake.

Go rent...or better yet..buy the Cream DVD at the Albert Hall that was released last year....Clapton smokes on this.

In Page's defense he had not played at all since John Bonham's death. He was in no shape to cut heads. :D Beck, Page, and Clapton are all very good friends...especially Beck and Page.

When it comes to Jeff Beck...he is the only one of those guys who has changed his style continously. In-fuckin'-credible, IMHO. Clapton was a pioneer, BUT he was never as experiemental or as over the top as Beck and Page. Beck definitely has the best technique of those guys.
