Yes, it's another cash in convieniently released for Xmas (around 5th December I think) but i've actually waited for these for a while, and am surprised that they didn't put them out earlier (seems a pretty standard thing these days)

METALLICA: THE VIDEOS 1989-2004
10/13/2006 [ back ]

Music video compilation on DVD to be released December 4/5, 2006!

We've been getting requests for many years to release all the promotional videos on DVD and it's finally happening! In addition to every video we've ever made, for the first time ever the "2 of One," release (which up until now has only been available on VHS) will be available on DVD. Also included is "Mama Said," which never aired in North America, maybe not even anywhere in the world, and a few little extras such as "The Unforgiven" theatrical version and the "Some Kind Of Monster" film trailer. Plus, all the audio has been re-mixed in 5.1 surround sound.

Look for the DVD at your favorite music store on December 4 in most of the world, December 5 in North America. Keep an eye on the Metallica.com Store for more details on how you can pre-order your copy...coming soon!

No shit. At the very least, there's gotta be good pro footage of the 86 tour when they were finally signed to a major label.

Though I'd prefer something from the Ride the Lightning era if it existed.

With those guys, there's bound to be a rarities/bootleg live video footage.

On their official site, you can download audio bootlegs from the majority of their tours - some cool shit on there....

I hope Lars chokes on a fucking nickel, that little Swedish weasel.

Cliff Burton would have fucking killed those whiney, greedy fucks by now if he could.

CLIFF...PLEASE HAUNT THEM. I'M SICK OF SEEING THEIR FUCKING THERAPY SESSIONS ON VH1 CLASSIC. I'M SICK OF THEIR TIN CAN SOUNDING DRUMS ON THEIR ALBUMS TOO. HAUNT THEM TO START PLAYING GOOD MUSIC AGAIN.

DLR7884
Metallica has sucked since when the Black Album became mainstream.

Well, I like all eras of Metallica, I've always dug them and accept change, but that's another thread.

However, live footage from those early tours would be great - think of an equivalent Live Shit, Binge an purge for Ride and Master tours - fuck!!!!!

Seems to me that, if much of it existed, they would have released it $$$, but I may be wrong.

Still think they were on top of the world with the Damaged Justice era too. (Depsite the shitty production ....Justice was a fucking killer record.)

In fact, not too sure that there's a live band who could take em now.....
Everytime I've seen them they've crushed!!!

True, but if they had tapes they'd have released em, right? Especially with this been 20 years since Burton's death.

But I agree, it would be fucking killer.

WRONG

Why did it take KISS 30 years to release tapes from the 70'2?!?!

Why did LED ZEPPELIN wait 30+ years to release footage from the late 60's?!?

It's called TECHNOLOGY......they can now digitally inhance old concert footage to the point it looks like it was recorded yesterday..............

I hope you're right, I really do.

But the difference is that Kiss and Led Zep were both HUGE at those points - there were camera crews to film them.

Metallica '82-'86 - don't know if a concert was ever actually filmed, and it's not like they did loads of TV performances....

But I hope that someday killer live footage does come out...
