Best cover song by whom? Just Van Halen or of all time? I've gotta go with You Really Got Me. To me the sign of a good cover is when the band owns the song so completely that the original band sounds like a watered down cover by comparison (and usually has to switch to performing a modified version of the cover such as Prince's renditions of Nothing Compares 2 U or the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams).

I like Metallica's rendition of Diamond Head's of "Am I Evil?"

I like a lot of the covers on the Spaghetti Incident by GNR.

I guess since it's in the VH/DLR forum, it's VH/DLR guys...

Man, I also have to go with "You Really Got Me". They OWNED that tune. A close second would have to be "You're No Good" for me.

Well, non DLR/VH...

Skid Row's copy of C'mon and Love Me

Anthrax's Parasite.

Basically, if a group covers KISS, it can't get worse than the original.

Fav VH cover = You're No Good

Daves screams are some of his best ever

like I've said before he sounds very cool going back and forth with Eds guitar on this tune

True indeed DG ... but I can't give NG props really because it's a Arethra Franklin tune ... lol isn't it? ...

"Face to Face" did a cover of INXS song "Don't Change".

Hard edged punkish band with dynamite musicianship..

Other covers on an album they did called "Standards & Practices" included the Ramones "KKK took my Baby away" and Big Country...

Great shit!!!!!

I agree, this one is hard to beat.
As "You really got me" is.
But I think "You're no good" does it for me too, by a pussy hair, because of the awesome vocals.

Solo-wise, no hesitation: "Tobacco Road"! :)

What kind of blasphemy is that, saying Bach sings Unchained as good as D-Ro?? HELL NO!!!!!! Nobody sings Unchained like Papa Roth, not Johann Bach, David Lee Ralph, Calderone, or Gaygar...
