I don't see how it is any more mainstream than what he was using. Remember this unit only does delays and modulation effects, and you have to add the rest. It has some cool switching capabilities, so I don't see a problem. Plus, you aren't going to find a better sounding chorus than a TC Electronics. This isn't like one of those Hendrix or Clapton pedals where it was designed with those guys in mind. The G System has been out for a while...heard about Steve Lukather using it long before Steve Vai. Vai's a "new" user.

I never really cared for Steve Vais tone. Too processed.

Interesting music, however.

I love to see big stars that are also still fans. Vai and Zakk Wylde both using the MXR EVH Phaser. It is a great pedal, but sometimes egos don't let you show certain things.

Vai has some craziness in his little mind. Zappa influence? Have nothing against the guy. Loved how he made his guitar talk and laugh at the beginning of Yankee Rose.

AWESOME guitarist....SHITTY tone! Too compressed and thin for me.

Eric Johnson has been using the tcelectronic chorus pedal for ages....

And his tone is STELLAR....

I'd love to try out the G-FORCE....

The name alone has me hooked!:D

Bingo! There's no booty in his tone. What can you say, Vai's tone is flat and what is sexy about flat?
