For Illegal Aliens, Crime Pays - and So Do We

For Illegal Aliens, Crime Pays – and So Do We

Except for when an illegal alien does something horrific - such as when an illegal alien killed Denver Police Officer Don Young, or another murdered Los Angeles County Deputy David March, or another dragged his girlfriend to death behind his car - we rarely hear that these crimes are committed specifically by illegals. This is due to two factors: first, illegal aliens are often silent on family violence and afraid to report crime within their communities. And second, the mainstream media seem to go out of their way not to inform us, as they rarely make any distinction between crimes committed by US citizen perpetrators or those committed by illegal alien perpetrators, and this is an egregious violation of the press’s mandate.
While the murders of Officer Young and Deputy March and the recent horrific dragging death were national news, few know about illegal alien Cornelio Rivera Zamites who molested and then strangled to death defenseless four year old Esmerelda Nava, yet such things happen more frequently here in America, each day.
In perspective, crime is actually down, and since 1993, violent crime has been trending down. These results are due mostly to a corresponding “get tough” policy with its increased expenditures resulting in a large increase in the adult correctional population and a dramatic surge in the number of illegal aliens incarcerated over the same time. In any case, despite what the mainstream media reports, or doesn’t report as the case may be, there is also a strong correlation between illegal aliens and crime, as illustrated by the following map:
We suspect that if California were spilt in two, southern California would be in the top category as well.
While the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and try to make a better life for themselves and their families, it is also a fact that a disproportionately high percentage of illegal aliens are criminals and sexual predators. That is part of the dark side of illegal immigration. When we allow the “good” illegal aliens into America, we get the bad ones along with them. The question is, how much “bad” is acceptable and at what cost to us, literally and philosophically?
To get to the answer, this next section will concentrate on crimes committed by illegal aliens against people, even though we do not mean to minimize the tremendous devastation these crimes wreak upon Americans and society in general. Some of this information is very tough to read, so fasten your seatbelts.
An example of a rapidly growing crime with high illegal alien participation, causing many months if not years of misery for the recipient, is something FSM has reported on before, and it is identity theft. Additionally, there are a plethora of other criminal activities with a high illegal alien participation, including crimes involving methamphetamine, cocaine, prostitution, home invasion, auto insurance fraud, life insurance fraud, food stamp fraud, mortgage fraud, auto theft, drug trafficking, and prostitution, and of coursecounterfeiting documents.
As detailed by Edwin Rubenstien in Criminal Alien Nation, criminal aliens of all stripes are a seriously growing threat in our homeland. In summary, he reports:
In 1980, our Federal and state facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens. But at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in U.S. correctional facilities, as follows:
· 46,000 in Federal prisons
· 74,000 in state prisons
· 147,000 in local jails
Approximately 27% of all prisoners in American federal custody are criminal illegal aliens. The majority (63%) are Mexican citizens, although this is mostly due to the fact that the vast majority of illegal aliens are from Mexico.
In fiscal 2004, the Federal govt. spent $1.4 billion to incarcerate criminal aliens. This total includes $280 million of reimbursements made to state and local governments under the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program [SCAAP], but SCAAP funds cover less than 25% of the full cost of incarcerating criminal aliens, leaving the balance of 75% to be picked up by the local jurisdiction. It is worth noting that all costs are ultimately funded by you, the taxpayers.
As documented in Illegal Alien Crime Wave in Full Swing, in April 2005, the GAO released a report on a study of 55,322 illegal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local facilities during 2003. It found the following:
· Of the 55,322 illegal aliens studied, researchers found that they were arrested a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien
· They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien.
· 36% had been arrested on at least 5 prior occasions; 22%, 2 to 4 times; and only 12% once.
· 49% had previously been convicted of a felony: 20% of a drug offense; 18%, a violent offense; and 11%, other felony offenses.
· 56% of those charged with a reentry offense had previously been convicted on at least 5 prior occasions.
· 81% of the arrests occurred after 1990
· Defendants charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. 90% had been previously arrested. Of those with a prior arrest, 50% had been arrested for violent or drug-related felonies.
One of the problems in identifying on a national basis the involvement, and maybe even more importantly the over-representational involvement, of illegal aliens in crime is that no one tracks it as a particular demographic statistic. As noted in Cop murder spotlights crisis of killer aliens -No government agency tracks crimes by illegals, not even attacks on police no one really knows how many illegal alien criminals there are and many simply fall through the cracks.
Hampering our ability to identify exactly who is committing the crimes, interestingly, as noted in The Tarpit blog, Hispanics/Latinos, by far the largest component of illegal aliens, become “White, Caucasian, or Other” predators in Arizona. The same thing in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New Mexico, and probably other states as well. In any case, we have not been able to find anyone who tracks criminals by resident status on a national basis. Given the seriousness and brutality of the crimes, and massive participation by illegal aliens, it almost seems as if the various government agencies and mainstream media do not want the taxpayers (i.e., you) to be informed.
How big a problem is it? Far greater than you know.
The public costs of incarcerating aliens are trivial alongside the carnage they impose on their victims and their families. The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants in the United States,by researcher Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute, reports on the analysis of 1,500 violent crimes from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal aliens. Schurman-Kauflin concluded that, based on a figure of 12 million illegal immigrants and the fact that more of this population is male than average, sex offenders among illegal aliens are a higher percentage than sex offenders in the general population.
The author states that the illegal alien population includes 240,000 sex offenders – a “conservative estimate,” she says. She goes on to say, "This translates to 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally per day." She points out the 1,500 offenders in her study had a total of 5,999 victims, an average of four victims for each sex offender and says, "This places the estimate for victimization numbers around 960,000 for the 88 months examined in this study.”
Schurman-Kauflin breaks down the 1,500 cases reviewed this way:
· 617, or 41 %, were sexual homicides and serial murders
· 525, or 35 %, were child molestations
· 358, or 24 %, were rapes
Of the child molestations, 47% of the victims were Hispanic, 36% Caucasian, 8% Asian, 6% African American and 3% other nationalities. In 82% of the cases the victims were known to their attackers. "In those instances, the illegal immigrants typically gained access to the victims after having worked as a day laborer at or near the victims' homes," she says. "Victims ranged in age from 1 year old to 13 years old, with the average age being 6."
In her examination of the sex-related homicides, Schurman-Kauflin found the most common method was for an offender to break into a residence and ambush his victims. Not only were victims raped, she said, but some 6% were mutilated.
"The crime scenes were very bloody, expressing intense, angry perpetrator personalities," she said. "Specifically, most victims were blitzed, rendered incapable of fighting back, and then raped and murdered. The most common method of killing was bludgeoning, followed by stabbing."
Nearly 63% of the offenders had been deported on another offense prior to the sex crime, the study showed. There was an average of three years of committing crimes such as DUI, assault or drug related offenses prior to being apprehended for a sexual offense.
Schurman-Kauflin concludes that illegal alien criminals “gradually commit worse crimes and are continually released back into society or deported. Those who were deported simply returned illegally again," she says.
As can be seen from such studies, many criminal illegal aliens are not your casual law breaker. Most are recidivists – such as career criminals like Juan Leonardo Quintero, who was deported after being convicted of indecency with a child, but who later came back and then just recently killed a Houston cop in cold blood, leaving a widow and five now fatherless children. Many of the crimes are gang related with the growing Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) being notoriously brutal in carrying out its criminal activities.
The economic burden which career criminals impose on their victims, including loss of income and property, uncompensated hospital bills, and treatment for resulting emotional and psychological trauma – has been estimated at $1.6 million per property and assault crime offender! This does not include the personally devastating impacts upon their victims and their families.
Excluding the potential sex offenders from the Schurman-Kauflin study, nationally it is estimated that 80,000 to 100,000 illegal immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes still walk the streets. For this group, crime pays.
The numbers actually underestimate the impact of criminal illegal aliens as the data do not include:
The costs of criminal aliens for whom states and localities are not reimbursed under the SCAAP program.
Criminal aliens who have become citizens are not included.
U.S. born criminal children of illegal immigrants are not included
As noted by Heather Mac Donald in a 2004 article, The Illegal-Alien Crime Wave:
· In Los Angeles, 95% of some 1,500 outstanding warrants for homicides are for illegal aliens. About 67% of the 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants are for illegal aliens.
· A confidential California Department of Justice study reported in 1995 that 60% of the bloody 18th Street Gang, estimated membership at 20,000 in California, are illegal aliens. Police officers say the proportion is probably much greater. The gang collaborates with the Mexican Mafia, the dominant force in California prisons, on complicated drug distribution schemes, extortion, and drive-by assassinations, and is responsible for a number of murders, assaults, or robberies every day in LA County.
· The Columbia Li’l Cycos gang, which uses murder and racketeering to control the drug market around L.A.’s MacArthur Park, was about 60% illegal in 2002, says former Assistant U.S. Attorney Luis Li. Frank "Pancho Villa" Martinez, a Mexican Mafia member and illegal alien, controls the gang from prison, while serving time for felonious reentry following deportation.
We could go on (and will in future days), but this recounting of some of the horrors brought to us by illegal aliens should ignite enough American interest to fight very hard to control our borders.
It is a hopeful sign that many state legislators are taking matters into their own hands and enacting laws to protect their state’s citizens from such heinous criminals as those in the illegal alien community, to say nothing of the potential terrorists who are among them. Lacking leadership anywhere in Washington to protect ALL American citizens is not hopeful, and must be rectified at once. Let’s get moving!
