I know merrykissmass will be into this-

MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine has revealed some new song titles, Including a LED ZEPPELIN cover: "So, here are the new song titles that I know you know: 'Gears Of War', 'Washington Is Next', 'United Abominations'. And here are some other titles: 'Amerikhastan', 'Blessed Are The Dead', 'Never Walk Alone' and... We finally covered a Led Zeppelin song - 'Out On The Tiles'."

I gotta hear Megadeth doing Zeppelin.....

MegaDave getting out the LED !

Me wishes him godspeed, Im still agonizing over my
own recording of "The Immigrant Song"...

When you take on a Zep song, it has to be done real good..

I'm really lookin forward to this record.

But I have to say that covering a Zep tune sounds like a bad idea to me....

I partially agree. A Zep cover sounds like something a band would throw on a Greatest Hits cd as an extra track.

there's that, but also I think Zep songs are generally a no go area, as you can't improve on magic can you?

It'd be like Triuvium covering "Peace Sells": why both?

I heard a rumour that there was gonna be another Megadeth live DVD too, anyone heard out on this?

here's a pretty sweet vid of them playing washington is next live:

dave's voice doesn't really seem into it but the guitars sound sweet and they look badass....although the new dude seems a little on the chunky side

Maybe but Megadeth's cover of Paranoid was awesome, IMO. Then again that's only Sabbath. :D

If that new song "Sleepwalker" is any indication, then this is going to be one killer CD!

Sleepwalker
Music & Lyric Dave Mustaine

I should be calling collect from jail
For the things I commit each night in my head
Like last night in my sleep I got to snuff you
But then I woke up again, safe in my little bed

No one is safe when I close my eyes; I come to take your life

I get to force your untimely disappearance
Each night in my dreams, when I'm fast asleep
I close my eyes and you just vanish soon as I
Lay down my head when I'm dead to the whole wide world

No one is safe when I close my eyes; I come to take your life
And then I wake up and it was all just a dream
And everything is the same

Sleepwalker - Did I give you concrete shoes?
And throw you off of a bridge
Sleepwalker - When I lay down to sleep
Pray your soul's mine to keep, I feel you near me
Go to sleep, Sleepwalker

Just taking a stroll; don't go to sleep! Here's some toothpicks for your eyes!

You always make an excellent cadaver
I roll your body up in a carpet to make music in the
Trunk of my limousine, wrapped up in a rug
A fitting end, is that I send you up the river like a punk

No one is safe when I close my eyes; I come to take your life

The angel of death is pissed off at me again
Just because I got to put you out of my misery
It doesn't matter, I am without fear
Now you're dead, I won't shed another bloody tear for you

No one is safe when I close my eyes; I come to take your life
I'm calling down the thunder, then you'll sleep with the fishes
The answer to all of my wishes

Sleepwalker - Did I tell you I was in movies?
Then dump you garroted, lying naked in a ditch
Sleepwalker - Everyday, another way, I know you can hear me

Solo - Mustaine
Solo - Drover

I think you'd look nice in a Colombian necktie
Should stop your tongue from wagging the dog
No more stupidity from you, as I pull your tongue through
For a smile from ear to ear, now there's nothing to hear

No one is safe when I close my eyes; I come to take your life
And then I wake up and it was all just a dream
And everything is still the same

Sleepwalker - Did I give you concrete shoes?
And throw your body off of a bridge
Sleepwalker - When I lay down to sleep
Pray your soul is mine to keep, I feel you near me

Sleepwalker - Or did I tell you I was in movies?
Then dump you garroted, lying naked in a ditch
Sleepwalker - Everyday, another way, I know you can hear me

Sleepwalker - Did I buy you the farm?
Put a horse head in your bed
Sleepwalker - When I lay down to sleep
Pray your soul is mine to keep, I feel you near me

Sleepwalker - Everyday
Everyday another way
Sleepwalker - When I lay down to sleep
Pray your soul is mine to keep, I know you can hear me

Repeat Choruses

Well 12 songs is plenty for a record, 2 weak ones is allowable. The Zeppelin tune could go badly wrong, I hope it doesn't, but I just don't know if Dave and co. will be able to capture the groove.

As for A Tout La Monde with female vocals, could be interesting but I'm hardly optimisitic. I'd rather it was a bonus track or something as it seems to diminish the original song by re-recording.

However, if that's the price we pay for 10 killer Megadeth tunes, then so be it!

Number 8 is the concern for me.
The Zep. cover, what the hell, other groups has done horrible covers.....I give Mustaine propts at least for the effort (even without hearing it)

That Zep cover was probably chosen since Shawn Drover was using some of J. Bonham's actual drums on some of the recording sessions in England. It'll probably Rock.

I don't understand why they would even allow to have 2 weak songs.... they need a 5/5 star record.

Me too. Dave seems to think this song is the Megadeth pinnacle.

I was never much of a Zep fan, so as long as the cover song rocks, I won't have any problem comparing it to the original.

I'd rather have another Sabbath cover

Yeah, I think a Sabbath cover would have been safer....

Or no cover at all: eleven tracks is enough for a record...

Agreed.

B'Mouth was reporting that 'Tiles' was a Japan only track, anyway. I don't know how true that is tho...

"Burnt Ice" <---- Bad-ass song title! I hope this makes the US release!

Looks like Best Buy will be getting 'Bonus Tracks'...

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update via the band's official web site:

"The tracklisting for the new album ['United Abominations'] is going to be 11 songs for the States (including 'A Tout Le Monde'), for Japan it is 12 (including 'Out on the Tiles').

"It is very likely there will be bonus material from the future release 'The Making of United Abominations' (working title) included, which would be included on releases in these two territories, as well as special exclusive tracks for major dealers in the U.S. [This doesn't include drugs or arms dealers].

The track listing, as of today, is:

01. Sleepwalker
02. Washington Is Next!
03. Never Walk Alone
04. United Abominations
05. Gears Of War
06. Blessed Are The Dead
07. Play For Blood
08. A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free) (feat. Cristina Scabbia)
09. Amerikhastan
10. You're Dead
11. Burnt Ice
Japan Only
12. Out On The Tiles (LED ZEPPELIN cover)
(However this special track may appear in extraordinary circumstances)

The B-sides for special editions are:

13. Black Swan
14. The Bodies Left Behind
15. Special Live Track

"This is all for now. We are greenlighted to announce our next wave of tour dates tomorrow morning at 7:30ish EST. Be prepared to be very happy American Droogs! I can't wait!!!"

"United Abominations" is scheduled for release on May 15 via Roadrunner Records.

Yup Yup. It's good to see Dave come back strong these last couple of years.

I hope Gigantour can replace Ozzfest as the premier metal festival as well. I just can't stand Sharon...

It's strange, because on tape, his vocals suck, but in a real live setting, they sound great.

Yeah, he ain't the singer he once was, not that he was ever 'the man' on vocals... but, shit, I'm only there for the guitars & drums :rockit:

Aw, yeah... got my H&H tix w/Megadeth & MachineFuckinHead today. WooHoo!

You guys heard the new MH, The Blackening?

Machine Head is one of my fav bands EVER!!!

Burn My Eyes is a phenomenal record, a real metal classic.

Haven't heard the new one yet, comes out here March 26th (my birthday) and i'm stoked.

They are a smoking live, one of the best metal live gigs you'll see: a lot of bands won't take em on the road for fear of been blown off the stage, so kudos to Dave for stepping up to the challenge.

Megadeth and Machine Head in the same night, you're gonna have a sore neck, lol!

On the issue of Dave's vocals, I agree with Merry: they sound way better live, or rather, they fit the music better...
