View Full Version : US Deficit Drops By a Third

From newsbusters.org
The deficit through the first three months of the current fiscal year is almost $39 billion, or 32.7% lower than last year's comparable figure. Receipts are up a bit over 8%, as the supply-side tax cuts continue their "magic." The real surprise is that outlays have barely budged, actually going up at a rate that is substantially lower than inflation (Psst -- Don't tell Congress that). Will the media notice?

You can throw any figure out you want but the truth is this. The govt. does not count the Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, or Govt. Employee Pension liabilities. Without these liabilites counted the Bush Administration says our national deficite is $3 Billion. Add in the uncounted liabilities and the deficite balloons to $3 Trillion.

The govt. also doesn not count the cost of fuel, housing, energy, or food in their inflation calculation. So theres no inflation if you don't drive, eat, or buy a home.

Give me a fucking break! The big problem is when the baby boomers start retiring and the govt. needs to cover those Social Security and Govt. Pension liabilites. The money simply isn't there.

Right now, the govt. is adding $1 Trillion to the deficite every 14 months. Which makes us the uncontested record holder when debt is concerned.

not really the point.

the real point should be:

should republicans be happy that the amount of NEW debt that the country is incurring is a bit lower than the debt they incurred last year?

it's still incurring ADDITIONAL debt.

and that's a good thing?

Liberals want to provide health care benefits to all illegal immigrants. That'll add to that deficit.

The deficit started when Nixon took us off the gold standard so he could print more money to pay for the Vietnam war. The govt. spending ballooned after that but we didn't care because foriegn investors were happy to buy our debt.

That's changing now.

only if it doesn't simultaneously lower the cost of emergency room visits.

Without exception, you've all proved to be morons. ALL OF YOU.

I knew some liberal would mention that...yet they constantly bitch about underfunding for their pet programs and how Bush & Co. aren't adequately funding homeland security measures in their states and in the ports.

I guess money does grow on trees.

:gulp:
