LMAO @ that list...

Van Halen's "Man on a Mission" (Whatever th fuck that is???) over "Unchained?"

I know a few Van Hagar tunes and am not the least bit familiar with that song?

Crezzi.... But that's how it goes...

ANYTHING by Sammy Hagar ranking higher than Runnin With The Devil??

That's just fucking WRONG

Master of Puppets is a great song, but greatest riff ever??

I fucking think not. Hell, it's not even the best Metallica riff! (That would be "Creeping Death")

K, so it IS a Van Hagar song?

I mean one would have to be lying to say they haven't heard of MANY songs from the Van Hagar catalogue after being on these sites for so many years. I admit both purchasing and seing the "5150" and "OU812" shows and albums when first released. I was a dumb kid and I'll also admit to attending a Whitsnake show back in the day.. So what? We all do foolish shit when we're young, dumb and full of cum. lol

However and hopefully most mature and figure shit out.

The point of my rant being, I both know, have heard and am aware of many Van Hagar songs. However, I've never heard of that "Man on a Mission?" Was that a playful love song or ode from Hag to Anthony from either "Balance" or "F.U.C.K" cos I've never fully listened nor heard either of those records?

Seriously, that song title is equal tothat gay Paul Stanley song from "Alive II" called "All American Man."

Fine, they're gay and to quote Seinfeld "Not that there's anything wrong with it." lol Yet, the Hag actually pens a song with such a title and those sheep cuntinually question Dave's own sexuality? Dave sings an anthem called "Beautiful Girls" and Hag cums up with "Man on a Mission?" Seriously, I wish I knew about this song when I first joined these sites. Think of the material that's been wasted?

BUHUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

The list pretty much sucks. It would be semi-accurate if the list was in no particular order.

AHOY MATIE!!! :)

G'Day Marky!!!

Yeah and no shit with this list. As you and I are both classic rock infueled guitarists, heck, we've been bound to play any number of the all time and well known riffs from time to time. But I'm with you mate cos I don't know half of these songs nor half of the bands mentioned?

Damn, I feel old about now. :o

FORD

"Man on a Mission" was on FUCK, and from what I remember, it wasn't anything special, even by Van Hagar standards. Sounded a bit like "Summer Nights" part 2 from what I remember (with even dumber lyrics, courtesy of the Chedmaster)

If I was going to put ANY Van Hagar riff on the list, it probably would be the song "5150".

And in all probability, that one was written while Dave was still in the band.

That list has it's good and its bad points.

Unchained at 405, Judgement Day and Man on aa Mission higher: I think not.

Panama is also considerably higher. Whilst it's undisputedly a great riff, its not a patch on Unchained....

I also found the inclusion of Jacko's "Beat it" laughable....

It's a bad sign when you create a list of "most memorable riffs" that leaves the reader going "damn, how does the one go again....."

Absolutely. A great riff is one somebody can recreate in their head.

Holy fuck, I can't believe I missed this before.....

459. Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick

Now wait a god damn minute... Isn't the main "riff" of that song played on a FUCKING FLUTE?????

Geezy Pete on a nuclear pogo stick!! Aqualung? maybe. Locomotive Breath? I could see that one. Hell, even Song for fucking Jeffery has some decent slide guitar in it.

But a fucking FLUTE song???

And these dumbasses think that ranks higher than at least 41 actual rock songs??

Hahahaha!!!

Yeah, if I think of an actual Jethro Tull guitar driven song, wouldn't it be like "Locomotive Breath" or "Aqualung?"

I think they might mean the acoustic guitar part at the start of the song.

Not what I would call a "riff".

Besides, "Thick as a brick" is two 20 minute suites of music. Surely a classic riff song is short and driven along by the riff, ala "Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones.

The riff for "GERTCHA" is the best riff ever.

Well, the thread says "riff"... not "guitar riff" "piano riff" or "vocal riff". I mean, there's even mention of a flute riff somewhere in that list, isn't there?

How about bagpipe riffs? Or acordeon?

I wish Jeff Beck would bust out some of the "falling over a broom" vault tapes. It'd be like three box sets worth of priceless riffs.

Box set 1: I didn't do anything...just set my shit to 6, then tripped.

Box set 2: I was trying to change the upholstery, then tripped again....fuck it. Enjoy the riffs.

Box set 3: I make all the noises with my fingers. Then I tripped over a broom.
