Neal Schon owns. One of rocks greatest under rated guitarists.
It's a shame Steve Perry pussified them into oblivion. Saw the "Escape " tour in '81. They put on a good show. Tons of hot 80's tarts in attendance.

Steve Smith sure as hell achieved in getting Ansley Dunbar's beats down pat. BTW on the studio version, these songs are twice as long. Perfect if your on a good trip. j/k got stoned enough on my parent's second hand weed smoke. :D

There is one somewhat rare perry era Journey record called "Dream after Dream" that is real good. Its quite different than any other one with him on it. The recording was for a Japanese movie soundtrack from 1980.

This record really shows how great the musical talent in the band was/is. The mood of the music is intense one minute and very relaxing the next and the guitar work is superb. Neal Schon's father even did the orchestral arrangements. I gave it to a friend of mine who hates Perry and it blew him away. Guess it helped that Steve only sings on three tracks. His voice is unbelievable on them though.

I really like the pre Perry stuff also.
