Man shot after threatening gun shop worker with machete sent to jail

Posted at 3:58pm on 02 Feb 2007

A man who was shot when he threatened a gun shop worker with a machete has been sent to jail.

Ricky Beckham's lawyer says his client was sentenced to two years and nine months' jail in the High Court at Auckland on Friday.

The unemployed man had earlier admitted a charge of aggravated burglary after the incident in Penrose in July last year.

The man who allegedly shot Beckham, Greg Carvell, says he is disgusted with the sentence.

Mr Carvell is facing a firearms charge over the incident and is due to appear in court again later this month.

Here in Wyoming if you shoot someone comming at you with a machete it's called self defense. Gee, maybe Mr. Carvell would have gotten in less trouble if he would have let the dude hack him up.

i remember a story of a shopkeeper up in new york- new jersey area that kept getting burgularized, the burgalar kept going thru one of those old time windows at the top of the door frame to gain entry.

the shop keeper put some nails thru a piece of wood below the door where the burgalar would jump down, and when he did , he hit the nails and died from shock during the night.
the thiefs family sued the shopkeeper and took his buisness for neglegence.
