Didn't Page have one of those installed on a Les Paul during the Page/Plant era? Looks familiar...

I'll always remember him playing Whole Lotta love with the Crowes and holding the low E chord and hitting the button to tune the whole guitar down a few steps, then back up again. Sounded incredibly trippy with the theramin, and you could feel it because it was Jimmy and it was loud.

Ah...so if you went slightly out, just hit the same preset and it re-tunes, huh?

I suppose.....

But...I believe it was really meant to allow dramatically changing tuning on the fly

But yeah...I suppose you could set it to standard tuning....and say detune your low e......then hit the switch...and VIOLA...back in business

I have no idea why nobody hasnt invented a system that
would keep the guitar in perfect tune on the fly..
