2036 is reckoning day!

Plenty of time to practice ducking!

This is a situation where nuclear weapons can be put into proper use in outer space. Until a proper laser can be built on the moon.

Mankind need something like this to wake it up.

Ever since we went to the moon, the space race has been dead.

It`s time to start space exploration again.

I remember when I was a kid, reading books that said by 2001 we`d all be driving flying cars and wearing tin foil.

I feel ripped off that we`re not.

It`s time to live the dream again.

BUILD A FUCKING LASER ON THE MOON!

Apophis, which has a 1 in 45,000 chance of striking Earth on April 13, 2036.

That`s worth a £ of anyone`s money.

Don't worry, they have already planned for this.

They will hire this set of rough neck oil drillers to go up to the asteroid, land on it, drill a hole in it, put a nuclear device in said hole, and blow it up.

Easy.

Even if it doesn`t work, it`s a hell of an idea for a film.

:D

Funny thing about that movie is that the current Fraudministration would send the oil drillers up........ not to stop the asteroid, but to see if there was oil in it. And if there was, milk the profit out of the thing and then let it crash in a Democratic state. Or some country full of "brown people".

And then blame it on Iran.

Pretty amazing that this asteroid is 29 years away from earth and if it hits the earth they already know the day that it will happen.

FORD, I don`t know what it is, but sometimes I get the feeling you don`t like the regime that controls your country.

Check out the Front Line.... Chimpy was just voted worst pResident ever with 81% of the vote!

Thankfully, most of the country woke up. Let's hope they stay awake at least through the next election.

But don't you get to have "celestial sex" afterwards, when you become the God of your own planet? ;)

This would be a good way to dispose of the world's nuclear arsenal. Fire a bunch of multiple warhead missles at this asteroid from space supervised by an international team. Speaking of which, the sun would be a great place to dump the planet's toxic waste. And since Mars is uninhabitable, use that planet solely for mining and ban in it earth in order restore the lush green landscape it once was and stop world hunger.

See, they keep changing the date...

The "huge asteroid colliding with earth" has been estimated to hit us at 2019, 2029...now it's 2036...

Honestly, if it is to hit us in 2036, I don't give a shit.

Even 2019 would be fine. Just give me a few years' notice sos I can gets up to sum monkeyshines.

Thats rather ironic cause I was just watching this show on the Discovery Science Channel about a week or so ago about planning for just such an occasion and practically every astrophysicist said Nuclear weapons are not only a bad idea but realistically they won't even work. If its big enough to cause a real "Extinction Level Event" it would only break chunks off it and instead of getting hit by one big piece it would be a bunch of smaller ones that could cause just as much damage. They actually do have several plausible ways of diverting it before it gets here and the method they will use depends on the amount of lead time they have. In this case all they are gonna do is launch a pod or shuttle (unmanned and can be controlled from here) to simply hover at a certain distance over the asteroid which will create artificial gravity between the asteroid and pod and simply steer it slowly away over a period of time causing it to miss us. They also have a method of rigging it with a solar sail which will change its course and even with enough time they could use the suns heat to disolve it by using a large mylar or foil type rig that would focus directly on the asteroid causing it to melt away. Think of an ant under a magnifying glass.

In theory though, the Armagedon way of doing would work? If you had a big enough Nuke.

As long as the Van Halen re-union happens before then couldnt give a shit!
