Is this a re-make of "300 hundred Spartans", that old B movie?

Based on the same historical story but its an adaption of a graphical novel. If you ever saw Sin City, it's that idea.

I don't think it's going to be historically accurate but it could be a lot of fun. I plan to go.

Cheers Sesh.

If it's Sin City esque I'll be there....

When I saw the trailer and those guys started to jump around like super-heroes I was immediately appaled that they'd make another Troy - and make it even worse!

Then I realized it was a comic book adaption... CGI too, I believe? All was instantly forgiven and my interest was immediately aroused.

I think I'll watch it.

Cheers! :bottle:

i really liked troy...

and i always thought that the battle at thermopolae would be a great movie; but i'm definitely a little wary of the comic book-style adaptation. (mostly the brief trailers with characters who look more like monsters than real people).

but, i'm probably going to check it out. and if the action and story are decent, i'll be happy.

Troy was just soft porn for girls.

Oh man, that's a funny comment!

It wasn't as bad as Kingdom of Heaven though....

Looks kinda "gay".

No?

I would not exactly call blood & gore "gay".

Like, you mean there is gonna be a buncha limp-wristed fairies skipping around the battlefield tossing flowers at everyone while warriors are busy hacking, slicing and dicing each other to pieces?
:D

My bad.

I never saw the trailer, only bits on TV.

Is it like Gladiator?

Or like Troy with endless scenes of Brad Pitt oiling himself up before and after battles. Hollywood did stop short of telling the original story that Achilles got so upset about Patroclus being killed by Hector because he was his fuck buddy. In the movie they changed it to being his cousin.

Yeah, and the way that they turned Achilles into some politically correct, sensitive guy who cared about womens' feelings...

I think it's implied in the Iliad that he and Pat are both poofters, that also enjoy screwing the trophy slave women captured in battle...

One of the things this movie is getting an advance buzz about is seriously heavy blood and gore.

It also seems to be very innacurate historically.

That annoys me a bit as someone with an interest in history because like the William Wallace BraveHeart thing, the true story is amazing so why fuck with it?

Anyhoo as I said I think I'll be checking it out.

Cheers!

I agree. I would prefer it to be historically accurate, but for the popcorn effect, fuck yeah!

Going to check it out later this week, I'll put a review up sooner or later...

Absolutely. I actaully quite liked Braveheart, but thought it would have been even better if they hadn't fucked with the story.

At least it raises interest in history though....

I just want it to be known, well known, that I was not stuffy-eyed at the end of Braveheart. There was a lot of dust in the car and the drive in was a naturally bad environment for my allergies.

Anybody who says anything otherwise is wrong and I own them.

Holy fucking shit.

I take back that 'gay' comment.

Didn't realize that Frank Miller is behind 300.

THE Frank "Batman-The Dark Knight Returns" Miller.

THE Frank "Sin City" Miller.

I WILL SEE THIS!

I will be checking it out this weekend, really looking forward to it. Watched the making of 300 on HBO, and the training regimen these actors had to endure was off the charts. The fight scenes look impressive.

btw, all the special effect were done in montreal by a design firm called Hybrid, the giant in the movie is also a canadian, ex wwwf wrestler.

apparently visually it's really nice, but the story is apparently lame...oh well!
