DAVID LEE ROTH Guitarist To Judge GIBSON SHRED FEST In Upstate New York

According to the Rochester Democract & Chronicle, DAVID LEE ROTH guitarist Bart Walsh will be one of the judges of the Gibson Shred Fest and contest, which is being held by The House of Guitars.

Shredding is very fast picking or fingering, speed playing if you will, said House of Guitars co-owner Bruce Schaubroeck. The Irondequoit store was looking for a new promotion, and decided on the contest.

To enter, guitar players of any genre need to submit by mail or drop-off a three-minute tape or compact disc of their playing. Twenty finalists will perform live at the Titus music store on June 2. The prize: a Gibson guitar, of course.

Walsh will perform after the finals on June 2 as well, Schaubroeck said.

I think that should read FORMER DLR guitarist. Last I talked to Bart he was living in Nashville, so I wonder if maybe he's got some deal with Gibson or something.
