A=mazing technology and life-likeness, but I'm not too sure that I'm entirely comfortable with it....

Hubby's a graphics artist and this blew him away.

I can't imagine how much they spent to do this! We can't figure out if she was actually there or if it was performed somewhere else, and aired on the screens in the studio. We both doubt that it was done like the "Gorillas" performance as he's not somewhat "opaque" at all. If it was live, there had to be a dummy stand-in that the live audience was seeing and his image just draped over that on the film.

None-the-less, amazing and ingenious. The set was altered to look like the original, the band is playing in the back and everything is perfectly timed. The lighting is perfect, he appears to interact with her, and the camera work is AMAZING!

I had tears in my eyes, goose-bumps, and still am completely awestruck that they did this.

Maybe Van Halen should employ this technology so we could get a reunion of sorts....

Oh sorry that would mean accessing the vaults of live footage, my bad...

Ain't the first time that's been done...

No kidding Coyote...

Good one, yet it's in black and white, set back from the audience, the filters and ambiance makes it look fake...

When he walks away, it's pretty obvious that it's a double.

Sure, but it's the prototype... :D

And it was German.

Well, at least it gives me the reason to believe that the audience was seeing a stand-in on stage.

But, shit-the-bed, how in the hell did they do this so WELL still blows me away...

And Binnie, you're not going to believe this, but my husband said the SAME thing! LOL!

The American penchant for making a spectacular show, and hours of practice might be a reason...

I'm thinking more along the computer arts line...

We're just getting better and better I reckon.

Impressive technology, but why in the name of all that's holy did they have to involve that demon bitch Celine Dion??

The only thing worse would have been to have the King singing with SanGAYa.

He may be dead, but he still delivers a better performance than her.

On the other hand, she's probably dead too, and has been for years.

But seriously, it IS amazingly life-like, but there's still some weird stuff in there, propportion-wise. Maybe it's just me? But at one point, it seemed the shoulders were kinda weird, then the fingers...

Ah, hell... it was well done. Very well done.

Cheers! :bottle:

Apparently Chimpy & Pickles were on the stupid show tonight. I wonder if that was CGI too?

LMAO!

Damn...that vid fried my brain.

BUt then I have always said, we are at the point now where for instance we could create a whole new movie staring John Wayne.

I mean, he has been in enough films that there are millions of shots of him, it would be nothing to create a cgi Duke, and then get either a voice-actor or a an actor speaking through a voice-pring filter set to sound like John Wayne and there ya go....
John Wayne in the 21st-century!

I showed my mom Casino Royale II the other night and it blew her mind.
