Fuck X-box or PS2. Anyone remember Missile Command & Lunar Lander? Remember when 7-11's had 2 or 3 games in them and pizza places had mini arcades? What other great ones did you guys like?

Dragon's Lair's on DVD and you can play on the remote.
I was pretty suprised when I found out. If only we had that in the 80's.

Asteroids was the shit!(The Best)

Defender, Joust, Missle Command and Hang On were a few of my favorites.

Can't forget the pinball game action. PARAGON was my favorite pinball game. One quarter = one full day of 7-11 ownage.

Dragon's Lair was the tits! I used to LOVE that fucking game!

I also remember games like Burger Time, Zaxxon, Ghost N Goblins...

To bad the arcade is pretty much a thing of the past.

I have a MAME Atari emulator on my PC at home.

Battlezone is my fave.

Kinda cool, cause it only needs 1.5 Mhz of CPU power to run, so I can play it while encoding video.

MAME is the shit!!!

I have over a thousand arcade ROMs (no consoles, only the arcade versions).

My favorites: Time Pilot, Frogger, 1942, Kung Fu Master, Karate Champ, Punch Out!, Galaga, Joust , Defender, Super Pac Man, Dig Dug, Popeye, Donkey Kong.

I play then all the time. It's not only the nostalgia but the time required to play. I like to play these games when I've got a few minutes to kill. Hard to get into GTA when you've only got 10 minutes to spare.

As an arcade junkie in the 80s/early 90s I'm surprised at people saying they liked Dragons Lair.

To me it was a way of charging you tons of cash to watch a shitty cartoon. Very little gameplay or skill just a money pit IMHO.

The big innovation fuck me moment I think was the first Star Wars game.

Cheers!

There was another game I loved , but I cannot remember the name.

Little help...

Objective:
Destroy ship surrounded by two spinning defensive force fields in the center of the screen.

Destroy outer and inner shields, exposing target ship to weapons fire.

The shields and target ship remain in the middle of the screen until destroyed: all the time, you're flying around, somewhat like Asteroids, trying to whoop ass.

Fuckin' A! Remember Tapper started with Budweiser taps, but they had to change it to root beer. The originals are worth big bucks now.

Centipede and space invaders. Although it's a pain in the ass to play em on the PC seeing that Atari made a shitty compilation.

I love all those old school games. I got that Arcade Legends machine and has about 100 games on it-a lot I never heard of until I got it but they're addictive as hell. The only thing that sucks is that it's in storage since my divorce. I can't wait to break that out again.

No way! I'll take the classics over the new shit any day. (With the exception of Pong)

You can buy real arcade games starting at about $100, sometimes less. Of course Galaga, Ms. Pac & other popular games are more expensive. I bought a 1942 for $120 & a Ring King for $85.

What's appealing is they are the girls nextdoor. You could be fucking someone just like them tonight or tommorrow night. It's real. Not like saying you want to doink Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jollie.

Doubt either of them are going to be beating my door down tonight (or any other night) begging me to fuck them, but I see your point.

So young...so tender.

Actually got so good at Galaga that I could flip a million points on a quarter, which took quite a while to do in terms of play time - local pizzeria owner back in the day banned me from playing it because he wasn't making as much money off it as he could be.

Yeah, I could do that with 1942. The 7-11 hated us. My buddies & I would ditch 8th & 9th grade to hang out all day, smoke, play arcade games, eat pizza. We were riding our bikes to school, so we thought we were independent...& hot shit. Sadly, we were neither.

Even though I play some of the newer games at home, am partial to most of the classic games, especially if I'm out and about and find a stand-up version in a sports bar or something...

...In fact, the only classic game I just didn't care for was Q-Bert.
