View Full Version : One Of our Hometown Boys Buried Today

Hillsboro, Ohio..

Mullet City in my opinion, but I took Dennis Hopper's advice and moved to a remote location for some "peace and quiet".

A young man, 21, from right here is being buried today after being killed in Iraq. The entire town is having a large motorcade/ parade on the way to services and to the cemetary. I can't remember his name off the top of my head, but I'll be sure to post it soon. I don't know about his marital status, whether or not he had children, or what type of MOS he had, all I know is he deserves every damned thing possible in this case and so does his family.
I also thought about what the mood of the people watching might be. Will it be curiosity, pity for the boy and his family and showing their respect. Who turns up for these types of events normally when the majority of the people attending don't even know you? I'm too pissed to find out.

It's another young life lost due to Bush's lack of insight and intellegence. He's paid for it, as all the others before him and those after. I think about my brother-in-law who joined 2 years ago and is over there now, as a fuel truck driver somewhere in Baghdad. He really didn't have alot of options to employment. If he did, I will bet my life he wouldn't have signed up. And I told him no combat MOS's, not with his new baby-at least I thought it would keep him in a somewhat safer situation. No point in taking unnecessary risks.

Now I'm thinking about the anti- war protesters and how easy it would be to accuse them of wrecking a funeral, or disrespecting it. I also realize that is when it SHOULD BE DONE, so the world knows we are tired of throwing our most precious resource at a mistake Bush refuses to acknowlege.
Who should be the last man to die for a mistake? He's in the fucking White House. It's sad to see the quietest voices in our "democracy" being abused by the loudest and richest to promote an agenda that will never materialize.

1500 years of in-fighting and animosity among religious sects and he sold the idea to at least the NeoCons that he was brilliant enough to change it in a few years. Arrogant retard.

Time is up.

i agree with everything you had to say there except the part where war protester should be at american war heros funerals.

those people do that to add shock to their cause, at the expense of the heros family.

totally disrespectul and unexceptable.

Lighten up, Frances.

For those that want to go beyond the mod that feels that only he can bogart a thread, I said:

I'm gay.

I'm not the one "Bogarting" a thread, skid mark. You are.

And I think Go-Spur-Go's essay was at least strangely entertaining, unlike your 90% pre-functery trash that is often rife with so many internal (and external) contradictions, you almost have to be a troll. Except, you're too dumb to pull it off...

You know, like showing disrespect for the soldiers you pretend to care about, and then flaming and accusing people for doing the same. Or not knowing basic service-connected information despite claiming to have served in the Navy. Or claiming to be a god-fearing conservative, but then making weird, almost twisted, remarks in a thread about Fifth-graders having a gang-bang in school. What can I say?

First off I have to remind you that the townspeople were parading this young man's body through downtown complete with fire trucks police escorts, etc. Don't think for a second he would have gotten a hero's welcome if he had stepped off the plane himself. Only family would have been present.
On the subject of protesting during the funeral, that would be wrong, but during the parade wouldn't be out of bounds, what better time for voicing your displeasure for this war could there be while the whole town turns out for the "parade"?
If it were me in that box, I would request it, just before taps and the 21-gun salute. So the world would know there's a difference in my opinion on military service, and the conflict the asshole in Washington wrongfully drug me and my comrades into. But that's just me.

They shouldn't be used for this one, that's my point. Policing Iraq, an Iraq their own uh, "elected officials" feel comfortable enough taking a 2 month vacation, while leaving our guys out there doing the dirty work.
Let them hash it out among themselves, the sunni-shiia struggle for power. So what if Iran takes over Iraq? Or at least the same form of govt., which it appears to be evolving into. There were no persians on any of those planes.
Our work there is finished. No WMD's, no Saddam and sons, no baath party.Mother fuck their form of democracy.

ALL of our men should be pounding the hell out of any area UBL may be hiding, that should be priority 1.

Dubyah wasn't listening....I'll post it again in case you missed it.

This was 12 years ago, when asked why Hussein was left in Baghdad after ODS. There's more to the story, like the opposing Iraqis who were crushed by Saddam after the war b/c they were expecting us to help them, but we never did.

BIzarre stuff. Whatever Brian wrote, should've been left intact. B/c, Nick, now it just seems like you're being the aggressor 9and frankly abusing your mod abilities).

He's got a right to post his opinion. At the most, other people disagree and perceive him as an ill-educated jerk.

Secondly, I beleive that during the parade to commemmorate a fallen soldier, is the time to shut up and pay respects. That parade is for the soldiers sacrifice, not a referendum on your feelings about the war. Afterwards, shout it out loud. But I found it disgusting that far-rigth reliegious groups used to stage protests during funerals, claiming that the Iraq War is the result of American gays (there's a non-sequitur if ever there was one). Shouting out "Screw Bush!" during the funeral procession is equally disrespectful to those who have come to mourn a fallen American.

I won't be lectured too by an Asshole!

But you're right, I should leave Brians opinions in because he just makes himself look stupid and trite. But I was trying to prevent this thread from devolving into what it has...

I agree 100% with not editing Brian's post, regardless of what it may have said.

I myself find it offensive that any group would use a fallen soldier's funeral service to promote it's group's agenda, but that's not my point here. I say what better time to voice your disdain for the Bush-led charge to Iraq under false pretenses, depleating our fighting force for a country never worthy of American life. Not during the funeral, not at the funeral, but in the area where you can be heard and not be interpreted as being anti-military. I'm pissed this boy lost his young life over this.

And VH rides again, where were Al-Qaida in Iraq prior to our occupation? Let the regional populous handle it with the heavy-handed tactics these scum are accustomed to . It works well for them. The fucking "white hat" behavior that will always tie our troops hands behind them will never work in their corner of the world. It's not OUR problem anymore.

Anyhoo, I was just getting sick of Brian never actually posting anything relevant to threads he doesn't like, just personal attacks (in this case a gay critique on hide's inability to spell the word "cemetery") and then claiming I attack everyone's spelling.

I don't! He does! I merely wondered what the fuck Go-Spur-Go's "I hate liberals" manifesto had to do with the topic of another thread, which Bri referenced...
