Sweet kit Oz.

Open bottom floor tom , interesting.

Do find it better for recording ?

I find great bottom end miking floor toms from below with heavy bottom skin dampening. Have you tried this method?

Cheers !

My last set was a 14pc Ludwig with only 4 cymbals to use, i said after getting rid of them in 89 if i ever play again i would like to go for more cymbals less drums. bad choice on less drums i miss the full sound i would get in my rolls kinda like Neil Peart playin on a 3 pc. lol this lil baby is a hopped up CB-700 all Zildjian cymbals an i like gettin lost as well. with the money that was saved getting these i got my youngest son his own 5 pc set, he wants to be like me when i was younger. then make music videos an put them youtube...funny kid

I seem to recall you telling a story 'bout that old kit.

Something involving your mom taking one of the bass drums, and turning it into a kiddie pool...

Funny shit.

Nice set. I couldn't imagine going from a 14 piece to that small of a set. I would at least need two floor toms.

Your welcome, i got a ZBT-Zildjian cymbal pack it came with a 18" china, then i found a Old Brass 12" Factory bell in this building we were workin in about 3 years ago and asked the guy if i could have it. he said if i had the insurance an the balls to climb up in the rafters it's mine. you can just make it out in the right. lol

OUCH! I had no idea . I must now say, i wrote that pretty hetero- questionable.
Sorry .I will now Re-write the statement.

Yeah , mmmmm drummer tool sets up real fine.Damn!

When a drummer sets up his tool---Damn!

That long stick pounding ---Damn!

Oh Jeez!

Ok all kidding done .

I posted some drummer set-up pics but cant rememmber yet
what the thread was i' will keep trying to find it .\
I really dig the drums .

Here is my theory:

If a rock band has a great drummer, i can handle
a little sloppieness from the rest of the band.

If a band has a great everything but the drummer is sloppy, i cant
dig it at all.

What i see some time in young cats is the put everything too far away
and it slows then down or maybe the set up is like that because they are too fast and need to reach for every note .??

Any insight into placement vs. speed .

Looks like you have the main thing sorted, the kit ! :)

There's dudes on the net making $$$ from this Mr Fudd !!!
I cant fucking stand midi and drum machines, I would rather
pay a human anyday to record a real drum track...

I swear, if I had a good kit and was a decent drummer, I
would be all over this.. ;)

Get some second hand mic's, a second hand mixer and
use your PC as the recorder. I can point you at two really
good, FREE multitrack DAW programs...

Tape deck is cool too.... I imagine you would still need
a mixer though..

Are you thinking of miking up each individual drum and cymbal ??

I can only tell you what i know and it may not be the same for everyone .. I fix my set tight and its becaue it does let you play faster and its the best way for me because of my short arms ..I have a good buddy that has ape arms and he is just as fast as i am and his set has 12 - 13 inch spread on his tome .. and his ride is about 3 feet from the center of the kick . But alot of it is just what you want .. I you use alot of toms you push them together to get that smoth roll with out getting sticked to death .. If you have lots of cymbals you need the space to flow so that dont clank in to one another .. But thats just me everyone else may do things there way ...

What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians?

A drummer.

But it made you laugh.

Haha, reminds me of some website that asked Dave Mustaine what he would do for a living if he weren't a musician, and he said he would be a drummer.
