(May 21) -- It's not much of a secret that Britney Spears and many of today's pop stars choose to lip synch while performing, but every now and then, the technology that affords them the chance to sing silently comes back to burn them.

On Saturday night during an Orlando show, Britney Spears was booed mid-show when her backing track skipped five times during the 15 minute show, MTV UK is reporting. Spears reportedly played down the incident, and kept cranking out her five-song show.

All of Spears' latest concerts, a handful of similar 15 minute gigs under the guise The M&Ms, have been lip-synched. The tour is aimed at helping Spears get her career on track following a nasty divorce from Kevin Federline which was followed by a hard-partying binge that ended with Spears -- shaved head and all -- checking into rehab.

Isn't it funny how she can lipsynch and people actually cheer her for it?

From the bloids, she played 3 or 4 CA dates last week and chewed gum right through the entire 15 minute and under sets. When they interviewed some of the "fans" in attendance they actually said that they didn't mind if she lipsynched as long as she danced.

15 minute show? Now it seems that musicians are all a bunch of pussies who can even do 25 concerts on one tour. When back in the day a tour would last longer than a baseball season.

No need to do 100 + dates inside of a touring year when you charge more than $100 + per ticket.

Although lambasting Spears for lip synching does ring a bit hollow; was she ever really known for her incredible vocal skills anyway? Reasonable to assume she was probably lip synching live long before her current troubles.

Lip Synching is a crock. Admittedly, I don't have much of a problem with it if there's a big fuck off dance routine all the way through the song...that I can understand to an extent. But, then I think...James Brown never lip synched (probably because he never sang a song the same way twice).
