Yngwie who?

Nitro Express

He did Yngwie, Vai, a little blues, and sounded like Space Invaders and Gallaxia at the end. That boy is ready for the G3 Tour.

Amazing physical accomplishment but it is torture to listen to.

A machine with no soul...

Fooken fast machine too...

I tips me lid to him, no way I could shred
like that...

*HOWEVER*

I think I will go listen to Comfortably Numb now
and enjoy the guitar solo....

P.S.

Yngwie's shredding has more feeling..

Ah, Rusty Cooley. I honestly can't STAND him, however, I do admire his dedication to the guitar. Yeah, he's fast, but can he slow down and still sound good?

However, this was not half bad...

Question:

What's worse....

1) Wankery
2) Pinched harmonics every other note

Well said Mark. While I respect the guy's playing, it does little to float my boat - no soul in it at all.

A lot of guys out there may not be as fast, but there is no substitute for feeling.

Yes the first dude is Rusty Cooley. It's a pretty old video from when he was still using those Jacksons. I don't really care for his playing but I respect the work he's put into his technique. I mean if it comes down to "shredders" I'd rather listen to Malmsteen. He has excellent vibrato, but gets old after a while.

The guy in your avatar, Mattias Ia Eklundh...he's quite the wanker too...in a more comedic way, though...

Stevie remains a great influence to anyone picking up the guitar I reckon. He played with some seriously heavy strings as well.

Yeah, his high 'E' string was usually a .013!! And if you've ever heard the stories of SRV's tech having to SUPER-GLUE his callouses back on so he could finish shows, you know how rough it was on his fingers...shredding indeed. :D

Fuck, I play .010-.056's and my shit hurts after four sets...

Yeah I heard the super glue stories as well. Just look at the tone he got out of that beat up old strat though. He had the chops and the voice.

Maybe he is a wanker, I don't consider him such. I really enjoy his music not just the guitar solos. I think he's a pretty good singer too. I'm glad someone else here has heard of him.
